Default [Question] Are those games (in topic) possible in UDK?

    Heyo UDK Community,

I'm working with the UDK since some time now and got some basic stuff coded for training purposes (I'm a bit rusty with UScript by now).

Before I continue, I would like to ask the Community, if the following 2 game genres are possible:

Diablo-Like Game (with Multiplayer and Dynamic Maps for Dungeons)
Hellgate: London-Like Game (with Multiplayer and Dynamic Maps for Dungeons)

I have a basic Idea of what is possible with the UDK and what not, so I would never try to create a MMO using the UDK. I just don't know if those genres are possible.

How would you create the dynamic maps (with the infos from one map to another and vice versa like how much you explored, if the area has no enemies anymore or enemies still there), store all the character info (with sapitu?) and the pool of dynamic items (armor, weapons)?

(More questions might come up at a later point)

    Greetings,

If you are not a licenceed user, MMO are limited to 64 players. Apart from that you can make the games you can imagine.

A few people have tried their hand at procedural level creation with mixed results. It's well worth googling around and reading up on their approaches.
    - Please do not send me questions regarding programming or implementing things in UDK via Private Message. I do not have time to respond and they are much better answered in the forums. -

I have googled around a bit, and it seems to be possible to create procedural maps on-the-fly or made out of pre-made bigger chunks..that would kinda be the approach, on how Torchlight or Diablo 3 do it. The Dungeons in Torchlight and Diablo 3 are created based on a Seed System and with a lot of routines. The Seed System then takes the chunks (like floor, long floor, corner left, corner right etc pp) and places them based on a system on what fits with what. I saw some videos on youtube tho, where people managed to do that, but it sounds like it is really complicated and requires an experienced UScript Coder and/or C++/C# Coder for an external application or DLL binding.

Procedural level generation is not something to be taken lightly. It's a lot of hard work, and definitely not something you can finish up quickly.
