Default When i open a map it is just blurry

I am brand new to UDK and i'm already having problems. I have been watching tutorials and when people load up there UDK editor they get a 3d cube on there screen and i don't.

I thought this wouldn't matter but when the people open a map they get a town or something but when i open the exact same map i just get an image that is just basically 2 colours blurred together

When i load VCTF-Necropolis.udk i get (see below)

Can anybody please tell me how to fix this or if my computer isnt good enough

    I have a
    Lenovo g570
    Processor: Intel i5
    Graphics:Intel HD
    Ram:4GB
    Hardrive:500GB

    Any help would be grateful

It's not very good. It's using the GPU capabilities of the CPU which isn't that powerful.

i5 is a good CPU, not a good GPU.

I would think you would be able to although not very well.

You need a different computer that doesn't use integrated graphics from the CPU.

As far as I know, there isn't much you can do besides get a new computer. If you got this computer to use UDK you should have looked at the minimum specs for UDK before buying the computer.

It is unfortunate, but your laptop would still have a difficult time with the Unreal Development Kit. It really would not make much of a difference with older releases.

Laptops are generally not that great for gaming, especially game development. They can and do work with the higher systems, but those are not your average laptops. Desktops are cheaper and better-suited to those tasks.

Very true. I have a Lenovo Thinkpad W700 which runs UDK, but quite slow, and it was roughly $3000 a few years back. I built a desktop PC for a little over half of that price and it runs UDK way better and is as smooth as butter.

I have a Toshiba Satellite with an i7, nVidia 5xx series and 4gb of ram. It's fantastic for games and developing with UDK.

Check if you have post process volumes on. Check if you have the mobile preview on. You could also have a hight fog setup somewhere in your setting that I forget where it is. Maybe world properties?

no its not a ram issue, you can download eboosta (and use a 8gig flash stick to boost your ram but it wont make any difference to your graphics issue, but will make the game run more smooth.
eboosta has a 4 hour free version, 4 hours after each reboot, or if you using win 7 try this

    in udk, click on
    view
    world info
    rendering
    post process settings
and untick enable DOF - this is depth of field.

you can mess around with these settings aswell to change the blurryness and blurr distance.

not sure if this will fix your problem. but i dont think its a hardware issue as udk will pretty much run on anything. specially with nothing in the level.
