I don't think K/D really matters to be a gears veteran dude.

You already have a pretty good K/D ratio if you ask me. You're probably play well already I would assume.

My K/D is at 1.5 overall at the moment. i feel like it could be a lot higher if I set my mind towards improving and getting as good as I was at GOW2. xD You can add/invite me whenever you want dude. GT: Capt McSwaggins. :P

You know a 3 game vet when you play 'em. Different playstyle all together. I played one last night. I sighed out of relief *then shoots vet in the face over and over.

Well let's see...it's kind of hard to convey in words, it's mostly a feeling I get. I'll pay special attention if I start picking up hints and a vibe of a good vet player. I'll see elements of each of the GOW games in his or her playstyle.

Signs I pick up are patience, long cover slides into a gnasher headshot(GOW2) good weapon control(uses whatever is needed for the situation) curb stomps, relaxed playstyle (been there done that attitude) , no commando rushes, a little bit of risk taking, always holds the frontline, (on 1st spawn) rolls 10 feet behind the crowd to view a larger scope of who's doing what and fills the gap, takes over a position where you have a struggling teammate, will want to weapon swap if you're doing terrible with a power-weapon. does not put themselves in a risky position, unless it's a trap to lure (see a little bit of risk taking) And mostly can clutch with grace and style!

gotcha lol i was just kinda trying to picture it, cuz i am a 3 game vet and was trying to see if i did any of it, and i am more of the patient one myself, cuz gears 2 made me more weary of running around cuz the lancer stopping power and what not. And when the match first starts ill go HAM till i die then ill slow down hahahhaa ( just cuz i played all 3 im not saying im SUPER good or anything, its a game and i just have fun with them).

You can sense it sometimes. I'll be playing and see a combat roll Gnasher kill. I'll think GOW1! hahaha I like when a guy who you know just picked up how to wallbounce and is pretty decent at it, but he bounces to get to you from across the map (giveaway he's a WB newbie) the vet will smack him/her down and then go back to business of holding down the fort. They are very good at putting one trick ponies in their place. Not saying Vet=invincible GOW god/godess, but that exp will rule a lot more of the time.

    What defines a veteran?I got a 1.8 K/D and a 3.7 W/L and I´ve been playing Gears for about 1 year,maybe 1 1/2 years.
But I play a lot,I´d like to call people who´ve been playing since Gears 1 veterans,I´m just addicted I guess.
But I´m aged like a veteran(not the cars)

Wow man, am I that easily to notice? Lol
Seriously though, I would agree because that's how I play and a lot of people say it's the wrong way to play GoW and yet those are the people that just run in, die, repawn, repeat, and lose.
Not trying to brag or anything, but if anyone on this Forum were to play with me in a BTTE/Wingman match you would see what your description is exactly me.
Good description though since you said it might be hard to describe in words....couldn't have done it better myself.

@OP - I'm willing to take you under and teach you a few things if you are interested. I'm not considering myself a 'Pro' or anything, but I have taught many people on my XBL friends list tips here and there and it has improved their game in the long run. If stats is your thing than here are mine:
    Rank(s) = GoW2 = \\★// l GoW3 - 57
    K/D = 4.3 (overall)
    W/L = 11.3 (overall)

In the end, it's your choice if you want to add/play/learn from me and if you do than send me a PM with your Gamertag. If you don't want to than I wish you luck and hope you improve in your game.

I'd consider myself a Gears Veteran.

I don't have a fancy high K.D ratio, I don't do all this wallbouncing crap and I certainly don't grind with bots offline and palm it off as real skill.

But I have played Gears since the first game. I loved Gears of War and spent tons of time online with my buddies, and when I wasn't online I was completing the campaign on every difficulty...not for gamerscore but for the fun of it! Those wreches by the way SUCKED on insane!

I went out and pre-ordered Gears 2 special edition, lapped up all the DLC and again played countless hours online (despite rank resets). My girlfriend at the time (now wife) actually cried when Maria died.... And I whooped like crazy when Coletrain turned up in that awesome scene!

And now with this game, even though I have a job and a family I'm still on Gears whenever I can.
