Default Need to merge static meshes with same material

Hello everyone, I need to optimise my game, n I´ve read that you can merge static meshes thta share the same tex, in order to be loaded has one thus reducing the draw calls.
So, 1-I´ve used the new meshproxy tool but the results are horrible.
2 -selected the meshes and Rgt cliked them n used: merge static meshes but nothing seems to happen.

Could anyone please help with this.
    Thnks a lot

It's best to merge them in a 3d app because once you merge the two you'll have to rearrange their lightmap UVs so they're in the 0-1 and not overlapping.

Depending on the size of the meshes, their Lightmap resolution when combined may have to be higher than if they were separate.

Wow JessieG, it´s actually more intricate than just go merge in UDK. I´ll have to look into that, thanks for the input.
