    Unfortunatly i'm more of an architect guy. So all the character that i did are terrible (execpt the death character).

    But next session (that will start in october), we will learn how to make proper character. So i will probably start all over again

    Another small update

    that will be the cinematic that will show the end of level 1. I'm far from finish but i'm stuck...i want to create a church converted in a factory. but i don't know what to add. And at the same time, i don't want to stray from my idea.

    Any idea how to bring the idea of a church/factory now abandoned ?



    i know its very dark, i didn't add some lightning in the back. But still...its way to clean...

    Thanks, but the purpose of this scene isn't not suppose to be scary (well a little bit, but i'm not done working on it)

    i wasn't talking about the lightning but more of the effect emerging from this picture. Does it look abandoned?

    Also, the church that i'm working on is way to high and too tight. hole in wall could help. changing the church would mean starting again for that section of the game.
    So i have to work with what i have for now.

    this scene is very important for me and for the game. That why i don't want to f**k this up...

    It looks abandoned, but it also looks like someone sweep-ed it up and mopped the floor. Try to make the floor look dirtier with broken tile and cracks.

    you can use decals to do what TheAgent has suggested, then you won't need to modify the "tile's" material

    Getting there, getting there. There's no sunbeams because they where actually made in photoshop to show how i wanted to look like. Fix the floor and the lightning.



    but i really want the sunbeam that are comming from outside that will create a hard shadows of the cross on the floor. So i will keep working on it!!

    The floor material from the church/factory is good and it becomes a dark tone. (as TheAgent suggested)

    I know that some scenes you made are very good, and sorry I really didn't see the third paragraph at post #42, because I don't take too much criticisms for me anyhow. Just keep creating more scenes, mate. I hope you can do better.

    my friend help me in the ''realistic believing'' stuff since she's an architect so i had to restart again the church again (well at least the wall, ceiling and had to add a balcony to bring the player to the second level.

    alot of focus is on the lighting, the floor and stuff in the background
    Yet you have forgotten about the stuff most closest to the user (1st person perspective). Look at the wall on the near right side, those bolts should be modelled on that beam, more detail. On the welded sheet metal slightly above, its too smooth and looks infact blurry on the circle "bolt parts".

    That harsh line cutting through it with the huge dark/light contrast isnt helping either.
    Stuff closest to the user should be high quality, modelled out. Use LODs at furter distances to optimise your scene

    Your right arny, but i have so much to do that i'm not trying to do a high res game. If i still have time at the end, i'll upgrade some mesh.
    But i will try create better mesh.

    here's the update. A new church more realistic.






    couple of thing to add like the physic behind the crucifix and the light. Texture for the stair in the back. Also, add someone crucify.
    Still note sure about the beams, they look too clean and lonely

    About the church, the beam's lighting doesn't seem right. I think it's about lightmap uv channel. Other than that, looks inspiring. . I'll personally clean textures up a little bit.

    if you're talking about the smal beams, it the defaut one from Unreal. As for cleaning textures, to you mean less messy or better unwrapping?

    Oh, I didn't realize that. If you want a better graphic, I think you should customize it. About the textures, yep, I'm talking about the messy look. Maybe reducing contrast will be better.

    Thanks, i think it the post process that, on my screen doesn't look that contrasted. I will try to adjust it a little bit but i would like to keep the dead space effect.

    C'est sympa ce que tu fais. Concernant ta discussion avec steve sur les BSP/static, les BSP prennent plus de ressources que les statics, mais effectivement c'est beaucoup plus "souple" a utiliser que les statics (surtout pour les materiaux). Ce que tu peux faire c'est construire en BSP et caller tes "MAT" (simple/efficace) et ensuite dans l'udk tu les convertis en Statics. Du coup tu aura un Static tout beau tout neuf (moins de ressources et pas de prise de tête UV/light .. etc etc).

    Nice Project.
    A couple of animation crits:
    A good rule is to create animations begining with the pelvis. Currently you your pelvis has a good forward and back rotation but no up and down. Most obvious in the walk and sneak anims.
    Some more secondary motion would also help.
    Keep up the good work because its looking good so far

    Man...i keep bringing more light but everyone it still giving me the same feedback... Is it too dark i can't see nothing or too dark like dead space 2 too dark?

    I think the lighting is fine if you want that type of environment. I would possibly change the speeds of your camera pans and not have them go really slow then suddenly ramp up in speed and snap to a different point of interest. I think thats the main thing for me. You should slow down the cameras (or speed up all of them) but keep some kind of consistency. I like how you change the rendering in the video, but some of the views a points, its good to see wireframes and then depending if you're going to be a tech artist, the texture complexity and stuff like that, but if there's no BSP, there's probably no need to show it for example.

    Too dark i can't see nothing :P I mean everything looks good and i want to see more details but i can't. It's probably just me anyway. I watched the video as a demo reel rather than a game trailer, so yeah, it's fine if you are going after that kind of atmosphere as White Paper Games said.

    So i listen to everyone that were saying that it was too dark. Trying to bring more lightning in the game without having a brighter environment. (don't know if that make sense...)



    Still working on the lightning. There some stuff that are illuminated and they are not supposed too

    LOVE THIS! I'm a bit worried when you said "the wave of enemies" on the video, this isn't going to be your typical survival horror game is it? I'd love to see you follow the story, perhaps with some puzzle elements added to it. Ever play Saw : The Videogame ? Sort of like that, then again, I think I was one of few who enjoyed that game haha.

    I liked your facebook and youtube channels, i'll be keeping an eye on this project
