    Exclamation The Rescue For General Online DeathMatching!

    We all know that we can hardly avoid having weird cheaters dominating the hiscore lists.
    But i see ways to at least use them in a practical way with this new mod (idea stage tho).
    It would be a new gametype called DoomTrooper where the current leader gets fought by
    the others! Now this isnt that new so far but with my genious additions indeed arises
    a unique unseen gameplay. First the basic appearance shalt be zombielike for all players
    of course except the leading DoomTrooper who must have its model changed to e.g.
    Xan and also have besides more armor and such one power weapon like instagib.
    These properties (models/weapon/ect.) were best made configurable via the mod menu.
    Lets go in detail abit more - the zombie players have to killhit the DoomTrooper to become
    it themselves what shall happen during the matches. If there were more then five of them
    a second DoomTrooper could come into play. There are still some difficulties like
    spawnprotect for the new DoomTrooper or pickup realtions but this could indeed
    decrease the hatred against the boardleaders and change it into more fun.

    Sounds a lot like Unreal's King Of The Hill gametype just with instagib and different player models.
    A huge fan of the entire Unreal franchise and Bulletstorm.

    Maybe - but the model shall switch by fragging the
    previous leader and the insta must not be droppable!

    Also sounds a good biit like the stock gametype mutant. The best way to get a request like this filled at this point in UT2004's life cycle is to code it yourself.

    people will never understand UScript?
    And that who tries around with it
    realizes he/she has to get into the
    basic dos and windows codes as well?
    No - thanks but i have to wait for some
    easier customizable gamebuilders since
    im already half buried with digital graphics.

    No, it's not. People with literally no programming background can create mods for UT2004. Very basic ones, but still. And you definitely don't need to know a thing about DOS/Windows. In fact, it would be pointless to do so, because the engine is cross-platform and acts as an operating system of its own.

    Also, this whole thread is not much more than trying to get things done for you so that you wouldn't have to do it yourself, then claim that it's your own and take all the credit. It's happened before on other boards. So no, you won't get any help until you decide to play fair.

    Cmon - this "original" mod of U2vehicles
    (for UT99) was a joke before i downscaled them!
    Nowadays id simply sublass them but back then nobody on
    the BUF forums even thought about explaining this to me.
    All i heard was - here you little naab - play around with it
    but dont dare sucking me again - a bad joke!

    Except that you quite actively tried to prove that it was yours, instead of giving credit where credit is due. And not asking for permission first.

    So yea, if you want a mod like that, you will have to actually make it yourself. And the community can help with the whole coding part with tips and pointing out mistakes. But don't expect someone to make a whole mod for you.

    Default another idea for defusing cheater activity

    A game like UT could have any thinkable cheater advantages as normal!
    Then all players were again at the same level and the fairness were restored.
    Im talking about the invisible client enhancements like
    > always dodge - doubletapping for normal walk
    > player radars with opponents plus hud throughwall display
    > viewer detection display
    > autoaiming and target lockons
    > unlimited zooming with all weapons
    > viewpoint stabilisation
    > auto combo
    > maybe ghosthack - if nobody sees it (!)
    But that all shall also be hideable for players who search more challenge.
    Plus maybe some new cyborg/human hybrid characters or similars.

    You mean if everybody cheats, give players cheat-advantages right on from the start so that everyone is equal again? Huh. Well then you also forgot flying.

    No - flying seriously sucks plus is easily

    But thats just the point!
    More cheating simply werent possible anymore.
    Still - it could indeed not avoid admins putting fakeplayer in their
    server but the ruleship of the unfair players were indeed over.

    P.S.: Well - thers of course the new Syndicate came up with similar
    features but different main concept plus ridiculously retro weaponry.

    P.S.2: plus - > unlimited zooming with all weapons

    P.S.3: Plus - > viewpoint stabilisation

    P.S.4: Plus - > auto combo

    If want all this stuff you also need flying. There is no way around it.

    And if I may ask: if that cheat-like advantages are official - then why does it matter that admins can spot it easily? O_o

    again if you read something wrong.
    Fact is - i am finding just one playable online
    match per month - the rest literally hack me.
    And that while im daily joining some matches
    minded and playing for years now.

    P.S.: Not to mention game newcomers who
    must suffer personality hang-ups or something.

    What I meant is that if there would be a gametype with all these features or something "official" that does this, then on servers where this is not the case, the players that got used to it could feel the need to cheat or will cheat on those servers because they see it as normal.

    The thing is - it already IS generally normal!
    Just look at those many 3rd person shooters where
    the players mostly do less more than moving and firing.

    P.S.: Just imagine youre a halfhuman war or tournament
    cyborg wich is equipped with the mentioned automatics.
    And once you became good enough you can say
    - now i want my humanity back and turn the
    enhancements off one by one. And nobody needed
    to think - this sucks theyre surely cheaters.

    P.S.2: I really think this is a good idea for shooter developers.
    You maybe even remember the cool dukenukem like cyborg
    dogman from contra the sidescroller shootemup - not too
    serious but kinda funny and this way a great play character.

    I just don't get why you think it still matters if these enhancements are spottable (by admins) or not - if they are legitimate, then everybody knows about them and seeing it is totally indifferent.

    And fly-cheats are still a problem, especially when there is no admin watching or there is no free sight on the play area. (Such as assault maps and especially Assault trials) So flying needs in or there won't be a chance that I ever support this.

    And stop trying to act like badass. I bet I've gotten more education than you.

    Besides, I get your argument. If everyone cheats, give everyone these enhancements so all players are equal again. And that's an interesting thought. BUT then you need all advantages of cheating and therefore put flying in!

    Nono - these arent any ideas much more clever new concepts
    and previews for the general future of shooter multiplaying!
    And about the flying - maybe possible but have you ever
    seen a flying cyborg? Me at least not probably because
    then it would be very hard to find any hiding covers.
    So if it should still be possible to illegally enhance
    the game then it would be minimal advantages like
    0.01 more speed ect. - no marginally at all.

    The vehicle seems somewhat ridiculous - but thats not
    bad indeed it looks like the clonebandits kindof style which
    again gets stored for playing with TNMT & Co. .
