    GOW1:
    - The dead room (no chat with teammates once you die)
    - Active down with the Sniper made it a true power weapon.
    - 2 shots with the pistol and a melee to down someone.
    - No planted nades.
    - You could gauge the lag and compensate your shots.
    - Joining customized matches
    - 2-shot Boomshot.
    - Fuel Depot

    GOW3:
    - No host
    - Better movement
    - KOTH

    I feel compelled to change my answer.

    GoW1: people not whining when you used all the tools at your disposal to play the game

    GoW3: turning people to bits with whatever I want because it's fun to play the game XD
    I use GUNS to SHOOT people in online SHOOTERS.

    I miss the close range battles, which sucks on 3 btw (all weapons are too powerful without a perfect active).

    GEARS 1: the fun factor of private lobbies doing all the stupid and dumb glitches and basically fooling around in private (crab walk, kung fu flip out map, sky dive etc)

    GOW 1: Atmosphere, kicking bodies, unique running/panting sounds, novelty.
    GOW 3: Everything else.
    DrowRanger16: No. Because he turned the key to fire the Hammer of Dawn on Sera knowing full well his wife would die. The guy has the biggest balls in all video game history.
    Hoffman is one of the best characters if you look past the games.
