I feel like since we have gotten very little insight on Emergence Day, especially from Coalition’s End, we will eventually get some game play on it. It really should be just a DLC, but if were to be a game it should be mixed with other events up to 14 A.E. If we were to get something of this, I would want Dom’s story. I think he has the most appropriate story to cover during E-day because so much happens to him and Maria and he is able to fight. So, here’s my idea:
Emergence Day DLC:
Six weeks after the end of the Pendulum Wars
•Cpl. Jonathan Walker
•Mr. And Mrs. Flores
•Chairman Tomas Dalyell
- Santiago Residence
- Ephyra Park and Town Square
- Embry Bridge
- Mall of Ephyra
- Sovereign Subway Line
- Nasaar Memorial Hospital
- Ephyra Suburbs
- Flores Residence
•MK1 Assault Lancer (MK2 [Chainsaw] wasn’t invented until 1 A.E.)
•Boomshot (Not available to pick up)
Intro cut scene which shows the end of the Pendulum Wars and beginning of Emergence Day. There is an old trailer for Gears of War that it should totally follow: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hebAB3iTHeg . The first part of the intro cut scene will have a TV turned on and Dom starting off: “Once things seemed optimistic...”
Dalyell will then speak on the TV: “After decades of conflict, the Pendulum Wars will soon be over. The People of Sera will once again be united... sharing this invaluable gift of Imulsion as once-optimistic discoverers have always envisioned. Both rich and poor nations alike, may I be the first to salute the world as we enter this golden age of prosperity, and peace.”
Dom “I guess they all spoke too soon....”
The camera then zooms underground to reveal Nexus, and thousands of Locusts crowding to see Queen Myrrah deliver her speech while she is accompanied by General RAAM and blessings given by High Priest Skorge: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i-TLe0mhgJc .
Queen Myrrah: “The Humans of Sera built a glorious civilization... but Humans are not destined to create. They ultimately did what they do best...destroy.... But this was nothing...compared to a new threat...from below... an enemy that will force humanity to take its last, inevitable steps.... towards extinction....”
Queen Myrrah and Skorge sends the Locust off followed by RAAM on the Highway to the surface and the title is shown:
Chapter One – Emergence
SIX WEEKS LATER
Ephyra, Tyrus; Santiago Residence
Intro: The camera comes into the Santiago Residence, as Maria is making breakfast. She sees her mother pull into the driveway and Maria then quietly brings Sylvia and Benedicto to the door and thanks her mum for taking the kids, leaving a day for Maria and Dom to themselves. Mrs. Flores leaves with the kids and Maria takes the breakfast into the bedroom to Dom. This was seen in Gears 2 and was declared the morning of E-Day which can be seen here: [url]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-3FiUkUV4wA&feature=relmfu[url] at 3:36:
“Dom? Dom? Dom, you awake? I brought you breakfast! The kids are at my mother’s… so we’ve got the whole day to ourselves!”
Dom wakes up, eats breakfast, and decides to spend the day in Ephyra.
Ephyra Town Square
Player 1: Dominic Santiago
Player 2: Maria Santiago
Player 3: Franklin Tsoko
Player 4: Aisha Tsoko
We see Dom and Maria’s car pull into Ephyra Town Square, passing Franklin Tsoko (http://gearsofwar.wikia.com/wiki/Franklin_Tsoko ) and his wife, Aisha, going into the café. As they get out, we see Dr. Gregory Wisen (http://gearsofwar.wikia.com/wiki/Gregory_Wisen ) out on a patio while Cpl. Jonathan Walker patrols the area. Walker was a discharged COG soldier and is now an Officer. The Tsokos are then told by a friend something happened in Jannermont.
Now, it may seem slow, but this is the most peaceful time players will ever experience. Dom and Maria are the first two players who need to leave their car, and head towards Dom’s favorite café. It will be very calm. Cars here and there, people walking among them. The players can either walk through the streets or through the park to get there. The same goes for Franklin Tsoko and Aisha, who are players 3 and 4. They were just told about Jannermont and something had occurred. The players then must walk through the café to find a television. When Dom and Maria reach the café, and Franklin and Aisha find the TV, another cut scene begins.
When Dom and Maria sit down outside, they sit near Dr. Wisen and place an order. Back inside, Franklin, Aisha, and others watch as reports of attacks on Jannermont occur. The people inside guess that the Indies are terrorizing people and the war has restarted, however, they hear and feel rumblings in the restaurant. When they look outside, this is what happens: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=892tFZZbUCk. Peaceful, then sudden and disturbing, the Corpser will emerge. The shock wave and dust push Dom, Maria, Franklin, Aisha, Wisen, Walker, and others over. When the dust clears they look up to see the Corpser bringing out the Drones, Boomers, and Wretches. An alarm will sound and give an eerie, scary feel. The forces then begin to kill everyone. The group leaves the café and run into the streets.
Dom, Maria, Franklin, and Aisha (Players 1-4) have to run away. The players run through the streets and park as various E-holes emerge and the Locust pour out, killing everyone in the streets. There will be dozens of Locust killing near hundreds of Human AI. The players have to run and avoid being killed. Suddenly, Walker is by a local gun store and calls people in, only Dom, Maria, Franklin, Aisha, Wisen, and Walker get it.
They quickly fortify the door and all become frightened. Walker runs off into the store and Maria calls her mother’s, but the line is dead. Maria worries and wants to pick up the children. While Walker suggests they will be safe and evacuated, Maria wants to make sure they will be. Since they are in a gun shop, they take what weapons they can which are only pistols and shotguns. The players now change:
Player 1: Dom
Player 2: Franklin
Player 3: Aisha
Player 4: Walker
All of them except Maria and Wisen get shotguns, however Wisen and Maria keeps a snub pistol. The group needs to go past Embry Bridge to get to the other side of Ephyra where the kids are. The group is following Maria and Dom until they find an evac point. From here, the players need to either sneak through the alleys or the streets, and being detected by the dozens of Locust means failure. While there is distant shooting and screaming, the street they’re on is dead silent, with however dozens of Drones patrolling the area. Once the players get on the bridge, a nearby Brumak and several Ravens destroy the bridge which causes the players to run off before it collapses into the river. The players will make it and they will run to the nearest safe zone which is the Mall of Ephyra.
Chapter Two – Clearance
Mall of Ephyra, Twenty Minutes after Emergence
Dom, Maria, Franklin, Aisha, Walker, and Wisen run into the Mall of Ephyra. The food court is filled of worried people and injured.
The group must now find a way to the back and find the evac center. Along the way, you will see Humans looting and scavenging the malls. However, Maria needs to find a phone, so she runs into the nearest electronic store. Your new objective is to find her. Along the way, you and the other players can stop by some of the televisions and observe the news casts all across Sera:
"These images are from our affiliate in Ephyra, just a few minutes ago... Similar attacks are reported all across the world... Eye witnesses attest these monsters strike from underground, without any warning... COG forces are waging a valiant defense, however... Emergency response services are completely overwhelmed, please stay calm and stay in your homes, the military has things under control... Some may ask, could this be the end of the world?"
Then, Chairman Dalyell occurs to give his speech:
"Citizens, we don’t know what these creatures are, other than the fact that they’re not human. We don’t know where they come from. We don’t know what they want. But they’re tunneling under our cities and emerging to slaughter our people. Our combined forces throughout Sera have been mobilized to with them. I ask you all to remain calm, as you have done through so many years of war. Stay in your homes unless ordered to evacuate, and listen for emergency information on all broadcast stations. That, my fellow citizens, is all I can tell you until the situation becomes clearer."
Dom then finds Maria who gets a phone, she can barely hear it but she hears her mother needs help, but this is when the lines go out and the collapse of Global Communication begins. Then, Maria has her mind set on going to her old house. She tells everyone they are going into outer Ephyra to find her family. Walker will help escort them until they get Franklin, Aisha, and Wisen to evacuate. But before doing so, the Locust emerges in the mall and begins to slaughter.
The players must fight their way through to the back of the mall. Drones and Boomers emerge to kill everyone in the area, and it’s obvious the Mall evac center is lost but the group hears from a soldier that they are regrouping to another nearby evac point at Nasaar Memorial Hospital and take point. The group makes their way to the back of the mall and back into the streets. The group then asks Dom and Maria along the way if they have called someone to pick up, but communication is down. However, as they walk in the streets, a Brumak and other Locust creatures emerge while the COG fight on the other side, very similar to this scene: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6esR4...feature=relmfu . The players then need to head towards a nearby maintenance building and become trapped.
Chapter Three – Intensive Care
Nasaar Memorial Hospital, One Hour after Emergence
The group is trapped within the building and need to get out to the hospital. Dom wants to back out and find his family, but Wisen and Aisha tell Dom and Maria it’s too dangerous out there. They have to wait it out, which infuriates Dom and worries Maria.
Everyone collects their thoughts as they look for a way out. Walker says as soon as they get to the hospital they will evacuate Aisha, Franklin, and Wisen while Dom, Maria, and Walker himself rescue the families. Maria asks Aisha, Wisen, and Walker if they have any families. Aisha and Franklin don’t have any children and aren’t concerned, Wisen says he has a wife and an orphanage of children back at Ilima, but Walker dismisses it and says he does not want to talk about family.
After looking, the group finds there is a maintenance tunnel will take them directly across to the hospital safely. That being said, they need to enter the tunnel, but it’s dark, so Maria and Wisen act as the “JACKs” and offer light. Midway through the long tunnel, they hear something. Behind them on the ceiling they have been followed by Wretches. They are attacked and even Wisen and Maria fight to defend themselves. The group retreats to the side room and up the stairs, out of the building. (This acts similar to the dark tunnel fight with Tickers in Landown, Gears 2) From there, they are in front of the hospital, but a spotlight is shown on them and they are threatened to be shot.
The entrance is guarded by personnel and the Gears escort the group into the hospital. This will give the players a military aspect of the Emergence. Walker and Dom pronounce themselves as Gears and are given Retro Lancers for the first time. Maria asks the escort if they know anything, and all he can tell her is they are not human and are winning. They are brought into the hospital evac center which is full of wounded. When they are brought further in, there is another set of TV’s and this time, it is of Scientist Adam Fenix. He knows the Locust, and they call themselves the Locust before E-day, so this is what he says:
"Frankly, other than the fact that they want to kill every man, woman and child out there, we know nothing about them. We've tagged them Locusts since this degree of death has only been seen in times of plague. They're subterranean in nature. That's obvious. Aside from that, I'm afraid..."
The television then blacks out and another ‘Seraquake’ occurs and the hospital is under attack.
This is the first time you fight with the COG. The Hospital begins losing people and the Locust break through. Like everywhere else, nowhere is safe. The group must defend the area until all evac has left the hospital. When the evac leaves, the Major escorts everyone out. Dom then explains his situation that he needs to get to his children and family. Major says that another evac convoy will follow them to the suburbs, and everyone needs to evacuate back on the Plateau. Major, however, recognizes Walker. He puts Walker in charge of this evacuation group and demands he has results unlike the ‘incident’ during the skirmish on Furlin Cliffside: http://gearsofwar.wikia.com/wiki/Ski...rlin_cliffside .
After escaping the hospital, they look behind them and see a Brumak headed their way. As they fight it, the COG orders Dom, Maria, Aisha, and Wisen on the Raven while Walker and Franklin wait down for another. Dom and Aisha fight the Brumak with the others on the Raven. After using the turrets, the Brumak is taken down, and another Raven picks up Franklin and Walker. The two Ravens then head for the Ephyra suburbs, but not before a Corpser and the Elite Locust spot them.
Chapter Four – Exodus
Ephyra City Suburbs, Two hours after Emergence
The Ravens land due to high Boomer activity, the group lands down on foot and will continue down the next three blocks for the evac point.
The group has now entered the housing areas of Ephyra. Homes are being destroyed and on fire, families are being slaughtered. However, Ravens and Centaurs have been deployed in the area. You must follow the COG forces if you want to survive. The group must now go to the Flores residence on foot. After fighting through the suburbia and homes, they come across a decimated house. Unfortunately, the Drones are inside and kill a family of three. As they fight and the Drones are killed, a Berserker enters the fray. After minutes of fighting, the group and COG can’t kill it and call for back up. As they fight it, the Berserker runs towards the burning house and reacts to it. Realizing this, the group has to lure her into the burning house and kill her.
The backup arrives. Most of the reinforcements stay in the suburbia for evac. After the fray, Walker looks down at the family that was just killed. He admits that he was responsible for saving a family during the Skirmish at Furlin, but he failed and the entire family was killed six weeks ago. He felt that he failed again, but he promises Maria he will get them out. Wisen, for his age, asks to stay behind and be evacuated to Ilima. The group accepts and is transported on APC. Wisen looks through the wreckage of the house and finds a small boy under it. He clears the wreckage and he asks for the boy’s name. The boy answers, “My name’s Jayson Stratton. I have no family, now…”
Chapter Five - Family Matters
Flores and Santiago Residence; Three hours after Emergence
The group then gets off the APC. Maria, Dom, Walker, Aisha, and Franklin run to the Flores’ residence. All Maria finds there is her mum, Mrs. Flores. When Maria asks for the kids, she says her father and the kids went to find a working car. The group is not alone, however, as a Drone comes to the house and Dom shoots it in the head. As they observe the body of the Drone, hundreds of Locust creatures hear the shot and close in towards the house. The others see this battalion coming and Maria refuses to leave without the children. Walker makes a plan. He and Aisha will defend Maria and Mrs. Flores at the house while Dom and Franklin look for the family. Then, the Locust emerges and attack.
The truth is Mr. Flores and the kids went to find a car, but the Drone that came to the house shot him. He ran to Dom’s parent’s house (they lived on the same street) and he is wounded. Dom and Franklin need to go find them in one of the houses out of 20. At the same time, Dom, Franklin, Aisha, and Walker have to fight the Horde. It is a long battle, but Dom will finally find the right house.
Dom runs into his old house and finds Mr. Flores along with Benedicto and Sylvia. While he is wounded, Flores is able to fight. However, he tells Dom his parents aren’t found (his parents were never found). While Dom reunites with the kids, Walker fights off the Horde. Maria and Aisha are concerned about the losing ground, and Maria still can’t find the kids. Aisha realizes that they are losing ground and will die soon if they don’t leave. Maria insists on staying and that the kids probably went with her dad to Dom’s old place. Aisha says if Dom does find them they’ll need their mother, and Maria agrees, holding off the Locust and shooting them while Aisha gets her mother. When they are ready to leave, Maria calls to Walker that it’s time to go, but he refuses to stop fighting the Horde. When they leave, Maria holds her on to her mum, but then her mum is jumped by Wretches. Aisha pulls Maria away and sees Dom with the kids and Mr. Flores. While Aisha tries to shoot the Wretches off of Mrs. Flores, Maria runs gets to the family. As she reunites with the kids, an E-hole opens nearby and she gets the kids inside for safety. As she helps her dad back inside, however, the Corpser that had followed them emerges and opens a gigantic hole, swallowing the house the kids were in. The music and following battle should have the soundtrack of Dom: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FaKXe...C2867AFC412EAE
While Maria and Mr. Flores runs back to attend to her dying mother: Dom, Franklin, Walker, and Aisha must defend the area and defeat the Corpser that emerged while fighting the other Locust. Maria is broken, but she defends herself until help arrives as well as Mr. Flores. The Corpser is a tough battle, but the COG eventually arrives and gives a Boomshot to the players which they then use to finally kill the Corpser.
Maria and Mr. Flores drag back to the Raven what is left of Mrs. Flores. As they get into the Raven, it is too late as Mr. Flores dies of his wounds as does Mrs. Flores. Their bodies are recovered and put in the APC. Maria and Dom are put in while Franklin tries to rescue Aisha and Walker. Dom runs after him and pulls him back before the E-hole swallows him, but is swallows Walker. While the Locust emerges, they shoot Aisha, and then Franklin goes after to drag her back. Dom helps him to the APC. While he admires for what he does, Aisha dies in the APC. This is what Franklin forever owes Dom. Although his life was ruined, he was saved by Dom as friend. The group leaves with Maria and Dom looking back at their childhood homes and the ending revolves around Maria and Dom returning home, broken, and watching TV as the reporter says that untold masses of men, women, and children have been butchered since the Emergence and that this will change the world forever.
Something like this, yes? Would you want this kind of game? The DLC is more survival based, not so much shooter and offensive.
