Why couldn't Dom bury his kids?

I know that on E-day, Maria sent the kids to her parents house on that day. However, when Maria's parents and kids died, they only buried her parents. In Gears 3, when Dom is asked when he was last in Mercy he says: "Maria's family, they're buried near the church. I wanted to bury her and the kids here too, but..." like what was the signifigance in that? I know he couldn't bury Maria because her body is still in the Hollow but why did he make an issue out of his kids?

P.S. I read the Sourcebook, his kids falling in an E-hole isn't canon. The entire thing goes against some events in Dom's life so we can't take that as a source.

So an independent comic called 'One Day' came out, it's also called the Sourcebook. Dom rescues this family and remembers when he rented an apartment with Maria, how he and Maria were heading out and Marcus took that famous picture (which is false) and remembers E-day. In the comic, Maria and Dom takes the kids to the park and an E-hole rips open and swallows the jungle gym the kids were in which kills them. I mean, it would make sense if the entire book didn't have a canon conflict with the games and novels. Maria had really sent the kids to her moms and for some reason they could only recover the bodies of her parents and not her kids who died.

oh i see what your saying. a mystery. i mean if they buried marias parents wouldnt they have also buried the kids too. unless if the locust took the kids seperetly from the grandparents and ripped them apart.

Maybe, but it just seems like they KNOW they are dead. Like Dom tells Marcus, Maria thinks she let the grubs 'get' to them because she sent them to her moms.

Good point. Maybe they figured if the locust got them they are dead anyway since at that time locust pretty much slaughtered whoever they saw. They buried her parents meaning their bodies were recovered, so I'm inclined to think the kids were not found. Maybe outside playing somewhere when the attack occurred?

It's probably just a small oversight. In the writing.

Well in her defense Epc didn't want to address everything for a few reasons. Remember they were heavily involved in the writing process and had final say in anything that ultimately goes to print.

I also wonder why Dom and Maria's kids aren't buried near her parents, but maybe they are buried elsewhere. Personally I really got in to Cole's backstory and how he sees himself as a regular guy. It's not just an act he really sees himself as no more important than anyone else, even before E-Day. I guess that's why I hate the superstar Cole skin so much. Goes against everything I've read.

It just leaves open possibilities and ppl speculating. Look at metal gear solid. No matter how long the wait we go nuts for that game. Konami intentionally leaves out backstory to make prequels and keep ppl talking. Rumor is mgs5 is under way and it's big boss again. Hype is huge. My goodness after metal gear 2 I waited forever for its eventual return on the PSX.


It's not absentmindedness, EPIC has a pan of some sort. Always leave the door open.
