Jace and Barrick Hollow introduction

Why is Barrick introducing himself to Jace, asking if he's "the kid" of the group in the beginning of Hollow part 1 in the comic books, if he'd already met Jace and rescued him in RAAM's Shadow? This makes no sense whatsoever. Which one of the stories in considered canon?

Ya their are some problems when it comes to cannon. Josh wrote RAAM's Shadow which contradicts stuff in Hollow part 1 which he also wrote back in 2008. The bigger cannon problem is Jace himself, if your read the Slab you know what I'm talking about.

@osowanted: You have to buy them, they aren't free, some sites post previews with a couple pages from each comic, but i would recommend buying them. I buy mine off of ComiXology (digital copy's), gears comics cost roughly $2 each, the newer ones cost $3-4 usually. Sometimes they have video game themed comic sales and the price drops to 99cents each.

You need to take in account that in times of war, sheer exhaustion and anxiety, you can't remember every little detail. I wouldn't be surprised if Barrick eventually forgot about Jace after Raam's Shadow then was "re-acquainted" him in Hollow part 1. Given the fact that the two didn't exactly form much of a bond in Raam's Shadow other then Barrick saying "You're going to be one mean gear some day", I can really see Barrick seeing Hollow's Jace as a completely different person then Raam's Shadow's Jace.

This pretty much sums it up. Barrick was with Jace for about a few hours, and then saw him once again five or so years later. It's been a long and tiring war, so remembering every civilian you meet isn't really possible.

That's possible. I suppose that's the best explanation available. But wouldn't Jace have remembered Barrick? I mean, he was one of the four people who saved Jace's life and inspired him to be a Gear.

RAAM sure as heck remembered Kim though the way he personally targeted Kim gave him a punch in the face then stabbed him staring right in is eyes enjoying his pain and suffering.

It happens. Unless you map out very clearly the things of note in your story, you forget them. The life of an author is absolutely full to the brim with details, and writing two stories in the same setting with a gap of several years between them can cause your memory to become fuzzy.
