need help making a Flashlight with script

Hello i am making a horror game and i am having a trouble making a flashlight i have to use the sept 2011 version as that is what my college is using and all the tuts i see say kismet dose not work so i need to script. all the script tuts i have seen dont work or when i get issues i cant make it work as i have not used any script stuff before. many people say that i have to make the light into a weapon and attach it to my flashlight mesh to the socket but no tut on how to do it . i was wondering if anyone can write me up a script so i can use have a light coming off my torch mesh or tell me how to make a weapon out of a light

Hey thanks for your torch coding tutorials! Also I found your style of typing and talking about your coding thought processes useful too.
My only worry is it doesn't mention servers - that it will work on server/client. But I hope by the time I get this code incorporated into my custom weaps I will have learned more scripting
