I don't know if this is exactly what you are looking for... But a fix could be to make a trigger box right before the object and get a radial impulse to be activated when entering the trigger box. A radial impulse will cause your fractured mesh to fracture, you can set various settings to the impulse to make it look like it is exploding(or whatever). It is probably worth mentioning that sometimes the fractured mesh leaves their collision box behind after fracturing, a fix to this would be to place a collision volume where the mesh is, and destroy it in kismet when the trigger box is entered.
Of course this fix requires some timing and adjustments, but i hope it helps![]()
