Im really happy that Rossi got a bigger role in this novel, he's one of the funnest characters. XD Im also happy they explained Pad's disappearance more in detail. I really liked the new characters that were introduced like Reeve, Jarvi, and Dury. I also liked how it tied itself so well to the beginning of gears 1.

I have a couple favourite moments, but since I'm not near my novel i will just say the first one that pops into my head. When Rossi came back from the bakers with bread. I laughed so hard my chest hurt. XD

All this plus they explained what the relationship between Marcus and Anya was really like.

The part where Adam alludes to Myrrah's past but then never elaborates.

Hmm I would have to say, Prescott and his devious ways + the bit in the Slab itself where Marcus kicks the sh!t out of the big dude who's in charge (his name escapes me at the moment)

I was not a happy camper. EPIC is going to make it better I believe. They really need to show us some love. A lot of us have been here for going on 7 years. I bought the console AND epic edition of Gears 3, had over 120 days played on Gears 2 and played the heck out of Gears 1. It really was sad to get 4 maps. Please make this right epic.

It was my fave book so far. I liked how it didnt keep jumping back and forth in time, kudos Karen for changing up your style a bit. I also was fond of the way it lead right into Gears1s campaign. When I finished the book I got right up and put the game in so I could hear those lines again

When they mention the "spiders" coming up out of the toilets. Baby corpsers, thought I might never sit on a toilet again.

Oh man, that was awesome. When Campbell first struck Marcus upon his arrival to The Slab, made me anxious for the day that Campbell really pressed his buttons and Marcus struck back, I wanted to see Campbell have a more shocked and surprised reaction to Marcus pumelling him repeatedly. But was still awesome nonetheless.

yeah loved the book, anya's attempts at writting, the reason why marcus never got them, marcus getting his 'scar' marcus beating seven shades of **** outta people

the baby corpsers still think they cute and hate shooting them lol and the neat tidy cute bow that was the opener to gears 1 i ALSO put the game in straight away and played and FINALLY i knew what dom found 'awesome' marcus and hoffman squaring off now that all makes more sence and is know really funny as to how hoffman 'warms' up to marcus cos he never stopped....

epic hope karen does another book

After this, I know there may not be enough of a market for it but I'd seriously love for Karen to write a novel of Gears 1. This just made me realise how well she could probably pull it off. Some say Gears 1 was good due to it's simplicity and not being overly deep, but I still think Karen could make one hell of an awesome book out of it the way she writes the other books and comics.

Some parts about Marcus' time in the prison were pretty harrowing.

What the Sires are and their intended purpose is pretty clear if you put the pieces together (Joveus' thread).

What would be the point of re-visiting an event that's already happened within the universe? I mean, sure; from another viewpoint/with other characters to provide an alternative narrative? Okay. But the same character, in the same events? Why?

If I'm honest, I think the last part of The Slab was a waste of Karen's time. It served no purpose, and the novel should have ended with Dom opening Marcus' cell. In particular, 'Welcome back to the army, soldier.' 'S***.' No point re-hashing everything that we already knew about the opening of Gears 1.

Because Gears 1 had far less depth than the others, character-wise, it being the first title and all. I know it's extremely unlikely, but actually reading what the characters are feeling during Gears 1 would be very nice in my opinion, plus of course added dialogue so it wouldn't just be the lines from the game. Plus we'd get the thoughts of Kim and Anthony, Hoffman and Anya during Delta's mission, Alpha with Rojas, Gyules etc before and during the rendevous with Delta. How they all got separated. Plus more detail (If any can be added) on RAAM and how much the characters know of his incursions.

There are other areas of the Gears of War universe that could be explored instead of re-visiting the same events from the same narrative.

I didn't actually say "Screw other stories, give me this." though. It was just something I ended up liking the idea of after this book. Also this would be multiple different narratives too anyway.
