Is the editor suppose to be this slugish to use?

I find moving around is extremely difficult, it's just, awkward. It's not like autocad or other similar apps where you can easily move around, it just seems so hard to move.

Another thing I find randomly my cursor vanishes. It's very hard to figure out where it actually is because of this. This is notable when I click on any actor. The cursor is gone. It's there, in the sense that if I move around I can see hover menus show up, but the cursor itself vanishes. I have to hit escape, shake the mouse and play around with it until it finally shows up.

I'm using the stock editor, is there an alternative editor that's out and easier to use?

I just want to modify maps like move vehicles, add vehicles etc... Just doing this alone seems like a huge chore, I'm thinking there must be a better way that I'm just not aware of.

I agree, movement in the Unreal Tournament 3 Unreal Editor is stiff. There is no alternative editor for Unreal Tournament 3 maps.

If it is not a hardware/ software issue.... You can Try speeding your camera up.

Like this:

* Also you can turn of lit mode; and PP in editor ETC - or maybe buy new hardware.
- i can fly around UT3 Editor with ridiculous speed and precision- its an unbelievably fast engine

* Don't forget the other stuff like; close un-used programs; especially WMP network service and crap like antivirus stuff that has previously been mentioned to cause problems with Unreal.

- also if your Using UDK go to UDK forums. [just in case it applies to you]

Are you saying you can you use UDK to edit UT3 maps and play them in UT3??

No you can't use UDK to edit UT3 maps. I believe he meant an alternative to the UT3 editor completely. The editor is resource heavy just like UT3 in general. Follow TKBS suggestions.

Well, I usually make my BSP in UDK.
Then transport the whole thing into the UT3 Editor.

Make sure you toggle "unlit movement" (the little light bulb)

Usually when this happens its because something is "stealing focus" - namely a segment of the editor / You need to r.click / fast tap the mouse button a few times to bring back the cursor when this happens. The windows key or Alt+Tab also if that doesn't work.

Not if you want to edit UT3 content. UDK isn't setup for that as of this time


I realize this post is older but its a very good question and In case anyone else has this problem.
