I just downloaded the new May 2012 UDK Beta, and now nothing shows up. It did show up in the old February Beta, but not in this one... Like, look...
The Basic "New Level"
The "Blank Map" (Doesn't even show the red outline for a box >.<
Using "Go To Builder Brush" finds it, but still shows no Red Outline, even after clicking "B" as well.

What do you mean by "restored" your computer? To an earlier state after a crash? That probably means your drivers got downgraded, perhaps even corrupted. Make sure your video drivers are up to date, and others as well.

No, as in, formatted everything, remove everything, and re-installed. Then re-installed all drivers, and software. :P I probably should have been more... descriptive

I have the exact same problem on a notebook with an Intel HD3000 "extreme graphics" like yours. Maybe integrated video cards are not supported anymore

UDK may 2012 not work propely with motherboard ASROCK N68-S3-UCC Nvidia Geforce 7025 (integrated card).
by launching the program in UDK Editor "Existing map", and by choosing a games the screen remains black. identical with udk game, by launching a black screen game !...
In other computer MB asus ok and ACER Aspire 7720Z notebook work properly.
My Best computer config is : ASROCK N68-S3-UCC, Nvidia Geforce 7025 upgrade ok ver 301...Windows 7 64 Bits, 4Go Ram, AMD phenom II 840 3.2 Ghz 4 cores DirectX11....

I am happy to say the following:
I installed Windows 8 today (Windows 8 Release Preview) and UDK May 2012 works like normal on it. I can't talk about lag (I'm talking stuff will show up!) as I haven't used it much yet :P
The steps I took:
1. Download (and Install) Windows 8 Release Preview here: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/w...elease-preview
2. Download (and Install) Intel HD 3000 drivers for Win 8 from here: http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Sear...cs+3000%2f2000 (Download the one for YOUR architecture)
3. Restart
4. Download (and Install) UDK May 2012 from here: http://download.udk.com/UDKInstall-2012-05-BETA.exe

It seems to be happening on laptops from all these other posts. It's not working on my XPS 17 but I went over and installed it on my desktop and it appeares to be working normally. I'm unsure of what to do and I cannot install windows 8 without voiding my warrenty. Originally Posted by pivotraze

If you run with Nvidia Optimus..

Oddly, after a reinstall of Windows 7, and a reinstall of my Intel HD 3000 drivers, UDK runs like a charm...

Yup definately worked for me, what you have to do is open up nvidia control panel. Under 3D settings go to manage 3D settings. In that go to the tab of Program Settings and you'll see 1. Select a program. Go to the program UDK based games. Now when you select it go down to 2. and select under the drop down menu High performance Nvidia Processor. Hit apply and it should work. To anybody with the Intel HD 3000 graphics card:
The latest update from Intel breaks UDK. If you roll back to 8.15.10.2696, the UDK will run fine. Whatever the latest version is (I'm not sure, I rolled back right after installing it) breaks it. That's what worked for me.
Your driver should be named "Intel(R) HD Graphics 3000" and not "Intel(R) HD Graphics"

In case not everyone has it fixed for themselves with the above help, I'll go ahead and throw out there that if you go to Preferences and select the following
then press "W" things might show up.
W hides meshes xD but its set to default to a camera movement key in editor.

Thanks to everyone who helped find solutions to this problem. We were able to reproduce the rendering issue on intel integrated HD graphics and can confirm that a driver update solves it.
The 15.26.8.64.2696 (8.15.10.2696), and the 15.22.54.64.2622 (8.15.10.2622) from this intel download page worked for us (on Win7):

Someone will have to try it and see. The machine I tested didn't accept that driver, and I was happy to have a solution that worked

I had the same viewport issue than Nonder in the march UDK http://forums.epicgames.com/threads/...1#post30554205 when i installed the latest drivers for my low-end pc i am using the Geforce 7050 nvidia GPU and this morning i have updated to driver version 301.42 and when i have updated i have had the same issue than nonder, i have now downgraded the issue is gone, so it seems like UDK's viewport error is driver related, for the May UDK i cannot really be sure that it is driver related at least for me, as it works on my 560ti with old drivers i believe it's version 285 but it does not work on my geforce 7050, too bad i do not have an Intel HD graphic otherwise i would have already tested it

I couldn't install the latest Intel HD Graphics driver on my Toshiba P750 running Dual Grahics, both Intel HD graphics & Nvidia GT540m 2Gig, I'm finding the Intel "Inbuilt HD Grahics" to be very dominating when it comes to running software and installing new drivers, I'd love to disable it but everytime I go to do it, the little voice on my shoulder says uH Ahhh, maybe that's not a good idea

I'm getting intermittent results. I have UDK running properly after re-installing the Nvidia drivers, when I shut down the laptop, my ability to force UDK to use my GT540M doesn't happen, even though it's properly selected.
The steps: start up windows, open UDK, loads fine but can't see anything (exactly like in this thread).
Close UDK and try to force UDK to use the NVidia card through the NVidia control panel plus right clicking and manually selecting the NVidia card, even though it's selected for use I can't see anything.
Re-install the latest Nvidia drivers (has to be clean install via the custom install option) run UDK and I can see everything. Double check by opening VCTF-Necropolis.
Shutdown windows7 restart windows7 and i'm back to not seeing anything the next time I run UDK until I re-install the latest Nvidia Drivers.
Changing settings in the Intel HD Control Panel seems to do nothing.
I have to wonder if this has something to do with Optimus Switching Technology forcing a switch to Intel HD Graphics even though the NVidia Graphics card is clearly selected.
I have a DxDiag but cannot post attachments yet, didn't want to clutter this thread

Thanks for taking an interest, i currently have the same issue than this thread but as i explained i have this issue on only one pc, here are the specs of the PC that has the issue

Some more info. I've spent a lot of time searching the net for answers to why my Nvidia card is not being used when I specifically select it, there are tons of links cursing the Optimus Switching Technology, I don't mean to harp on this but I've noticed that Mudbox 2013 doesn't like Optimus either, and won't run until I re-install the Nvidia drivers everytime I reboot windows, like I said above. However, Maya 2013 seems to do just fine.... (forgive me for mentioning other software, I did it only for similarities, and it's the pipeline, Maya to Mud to UDK, I've chosen for the time being).
One fix for me so far since my last post on this topic is to simply Hibernate between sessions, if I shut down, I have to re-install the NVidia drivers to use UDK.
I hope there's something of use here, please let me know if there's any logs that could be helpful
Oh and I couldn't install the latest Intel HD Driver because it has to be specific too, you guessed it, the Optimus Switching Technology, all I get is the "This driver is not validated for your system" error message, I'm running a 2nd Gen Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-2670QM CPU @ 2.20GHz (8 CPUs), ~2.2GHz with 8192MB RAM.

Solved for me
Anyone who has a disk image from the manufacturer needs to re-install Windows and manually re-install the necessary drivers for your system only, don't install the manufacturer version of Intel HD Graphics as it won't allow you to install the generic one from Intel, even through the "back door" device manager method, that's what stopped me. After a clean install of Windows I was able to update drivers as I pleased, like the latest Intel HD one, UDK screams now...
Time to get back to learning this beastly program

Out of curiosity, do you actually NEED to install from a manufacturer image, or can you install from a normal Windows 7 install disk?

@pivotraze No but, there are certain drivers that are specific to the system that need to be installed and can only be sourced of the Manufacturer support site.
I eventually went to see my tech friend to install a fresh copy Windows 7 64bit as you don't get one anymore when you purchase a new pc,, I'm not sure how warranty goes though, if you don't install the manufacturers image

This problem is in July 2012 too. Bad is that I have not intel graphics. I tried latest Nvidia drivers too but it doesn't help me and i had problems in March beta with them.

@nonder Yes i know i get the same problem with my low end pc, but not the high end one, upgrading drivers does not fix the issue, it only creates issues on March 2012 as you have described,

I have DirectX 11 show up in my DxDiag under system info, yours says DirectX 9.0c nonder, could this be the problem ??
I'm not a techy, that's for sure, I'm also very new to UDK and game development in general, but I noticed there was a difference so I thought to mention it
