Default Hard to hit with shock rifle and sniper rifle Primary

It feels really hard to hit with the shock rifle. I thought it was hitscan, but sometimes when I my crosshair really was on the character it misses.
Is it like a really fast projectile or is it a delayed hitscan or something?
I don't understand how this weapon works.

If you are playing online, it must be ping. Offline, those weapons u mentioned are hitscans, and thus, imply instant hit. Just think it might also be a (very?) low fps problem.

I''m playing on servers where I have a low ping and I have above 60 FPS......
In UT2004 or any other game it's way easier to hit with hitscan weapons. This feels like i Has to be precise as hell.

I find that 60 ping with smooth FPS does a good job of instant hit. 80 ping can be more variable and over 100 you have to be start leading very slightly. F6 ping.

Shock primary is instant hit though.

Hitboxes for shock are smaller in UT3 compared to UT2004.

To me it always felt like the Shock Rifle, no matter if online or offline, had an input delay in UT3... However, nobody answered my question back then.

Either this or it's what sly said probably.
And what BlueCloud said is probably true.

Might wanna load the game up again because the only weapons that can be considered instant hit(even though 2 have a slight delay), are enforcer, stingers primary and link secondary but within a certain range. All other weapons have a delay and so most don't consider them hitscan weapons anymore. With me, if I was to compare the sniper vs stinger, I would say the stinger is the hitscan, not sniper and the same goes for shock vs stinger.

    Offline lag?
That would be awkward. I would understand the situation if it was stuttering due to bad performance, but there is definitely some delay in the shock primary fire - which is supposed to be hitscan. However, it's probably there so they could play the animation or do something eyecandy.
I agree that the Enforcer and Stinger are both "real" hitscan in feeling. Shock and Sniper seem to have a slight input delay whereas the Sniper is still better than the Shock imo.

And now excuse me, I have to celebrate a great event: the 14th "birthday" of the original Unreal (1998).

Instant action is CPU and GPU limited no matter what you have for a rig. It's never about how high your fps is, it's really only about how low are the drops. The low fps areas and heavy action can slow down the rig enough for lag. But, a crap mouse will also not give you a fast signal. Wireless mice can have lag also. If it's poor instant action performance, it's your rig, either hardware or software.
    I currently play as [T5K]Bobba_Novis, {T5K}Bobba_Novi, and Gi_96.
My Rig- ASUS Z68, core I7 2600K @4.2Ghz, and HD6870 in crossfire as seen on my G520 @100Hz

That's weird, I never felt any delays for any of the hitscan weapons. Is that actually confirmed, that an actual delay exists, or is it just based on "the feel"?

if you weren't aware, they use something called Replication.. it kinda makes sense
