Hey Everyone,
I'd just like to share a some screenshots and information of a prototype that I have been working on in a small team over the last few months for our final year university project. Here's some brief information on the project itself:
Ethereal is a third person 'above the walls' puzzle/action/adventure game for iOS devices and PC, the game is set inside the mind of a clinically insane patient. In Ethereal the player assumes the role of an orb or 'Lumen' and must navigate around the now derelict and corrupted asylum the patient resides in. yhe Lumen is a metaphor for the repairer of the mind. Players must navigate around the corrupted asylum as the Lumen and solve various puzzles - each puzzle solved is a problem solved inside the patients head. Players can collect various collectables along the way to unlock forgotten memories. The general feel of the game is heavily 1940's themed with a haunting musical soundtrack fitting of the era. In Ethereal players can make use of simple but intuitive elemental gestures including our Inhale/Exhale mechanic which allows physics based objects to be pulled towards or away from the player. The design for this game revolves around the principle of simplicity, casual players are able to pick up and play without the need to dig deep into story elements whereas players who wish to dig deeper have the option to.
