Cool Using UDK... Which Game Of All Time Would You Choose to Make?

You are able to choose one game of all time that you would use UDK to make...

Which video game would you choose?

Would probably have to be "Daggerfall" for us!

Oh yeah! But I guess you couldn't get such ridiculous many units as in the original in UDK, though. Simply because this is 3D that requires plenty of rendering time for each unit, as well as more advanced path finding than you could do with tiled sprites. And fog of war would be another difficult thing to realize, I guess.

And I always felt that the overview suffers in 3D RTS games. The only exception probably being Supreme Commander because of it's many comfort and micromanagement utilities.

The rights for Dark Reign are probably still at Activision. Same as the rights for Battlezone…

Jurassic Park: Trespasser - FIRS TRUE 3D GAME...
The Trespasser engine featured the first game world to be completely influenced by classical mechanics and was also the first game to use ragdoll physics, bump mapping, height mapping to render a full-sized island, dynamic sound, complex AI routine and many more "first" like i.e. detailed graphics without pixelation artifacts - all those in 1998.

    A game of all time?

Would have to be civilization or spore or something then.
Please don't send me private messages asking how to use UDK unless it has to do with my work, everything I can teach is already out there.

there would need to be a unit limit of course, but I'd do it in such a way to get the maximum possible number of limits. 400-poly models with very small textures (instead of those 1k-poly and 1024^2-textured with complex shaders you see nowadays), derive from the bare-most possible classes, and some custom cheap pathfinding. fog of war would be indeed difficult
not that I'm going to do a Dark Reign remake anytime soon, but once I tried with the Spring game/engine (got a few buildings modelled and some programming) and abandoned it due to technichal/engine limitations

I was thinking Asteroids, but Pong is just too hard to resist, now that you mention it. Tennis, anyone?

More seriously, I would love to remake Zelda: Ocarina of Time in all of its glory. I've gotta see that little ball of light fairy in HQ. Oh, and the original design of the Great Fairy has got to go. She was fugly! *gag*

It would be Starsiege for me. The recent resurgence of mech games looks great, but they just do not scratch the same itch.

I had to think about this question for a day. Suggestions I had were Syndicate, Dungeon Keeper, Baldur's Gate, Dwarf Fortress and many others.
But really, in the end I would choose to remake Quest for Glory series in UDK.

My own game and then it might have a hope of getting somewhere because copying any game, movie, music or whatever is for talentless losers and the reason why Hollywood fail with all the remakes of films they do.

I doubt it. I see unique game types all the time. You have to think laterally to do this and never copy games that have been and died. That would be a fatal mistake and waste of months, if not years of work!
Just a simple example of unique game/app would be the Solar system app on these forums! A brilliant idea and never done before. The creators used their brains and thought outside the box. Something few game developers, film makers, musicians do today!

Tegs Playground (game in my sig) souldnt we be making new games? seems a wasted oppertunity to just copy some old game.
saying that, not a full remake but im currently making a game based loosely on Albatrossity
    Code:

Unreal Tournament would be the obvious choice because of the UTR mod and actually approaching Epic about taking it to UDK.
doing a game in the Thief series would be my second choice.

I think a true Unreal sequel could be pretty cool with current UDK technology but it wouldnt be my first choice, Id love to see a system shock remake myself thatd be pretty awesome but still not my first choice.

Alien legacy would have to be my choice and I think theres enough variance between the different types of view and maps to really show off what the engine is capable off

I agree with TheAgent, I would love to play UT99 on UE3. But I would love it even more if Epic did an HD Remake on UE4.

As bad as realmyst was. I think we're getting to the point where next gen engines can do justice to riven.

Riven is one of my all time favourite games. But, despite real time improvements I'm not a fan of real time upgrades to Myst style games.

It's an aesthetic thing, in the same way that photography isnt the same as a Rennaisance painting. I really, really hated Myst 5. I like my Myst's pre-rendered

THis tells my age but back when I was around the 17 years old age of sorts was the Greatest! (at that time) game at the arcades was the ONE AND ONLY!!!!!!!

    Dragons Lair!

Would love to see it done without the cartoon shaders!

    P.S. I am currently 47 years old!

They had arcades with cartoon look in 1982? I thought Pong was like the height of graphics tech at that time.

it was litteraly an interactive cartoon, no fancy shaders just videos playing.

Actually it was April of 1983 when it was first introduced to the Arcades.

It was done with Laser Disk. Total video interaction cartoon.

It actually revolutionized the gaming industry.

After that came Friday Night Videos and MTV.

For me the "Game Of All Time" is Trespasser - the engine was, and in many ways still is, unique and started a new era in video games - most of what use all modern engines began in this game.

The Pokemon gameboy games would be pretty sweet. The Pokemon would roam around the open world instead of magically appearing in grass.

Wow.. this made me think for quite some time. There are awesome games out there that deserve a remake but for some reason there is this one game that came to my mind. I never really played this game longer than a few hours because my PS2 died while playing it. Anyways this game was one of the best Ive ever played.

The game I am talking about is Jade Cocoon.

Its like a cross between Final Fantasy and Pokemon. You can capture minions. So far so pokemon.. but the genius thing about the game is the fusing feature. You can capture 2 monsters and then fuse them. That feature is freaking awesome!

Damn I am going to buy a new PS2 tomorrow...
