let's talk about the taking kills

what do you think about the whole taking kills? do you mind if somebody takes your kill or don't mind it at all? i personally mind it cause i mean if you get somebody down and you have everybody trying to kill that downed player, then the enemy players can just come up from behind cause everybody is focused on the down player. and if the community says its fair then why do they have a ribbon called STOP THEIF!? it clearly states on the ribbon that 5 kills have been stolen from you. keyword stolen. what do you guys think???

It really depends for the situation for me.

If they are bullets flying everywhere and I can't get a shot on the downed player, and someone else kills him, so be it.

When me and the person I'm shooting get downed at the same time, and a teammate kills the opponent then revives me, I don't mind that either, as there was a chance of him getting up while my teammate revived me.

However if it is just plain out kill stealing, like my downed enemy is in front of me, I get a bit upset about it. Then I get over it and move on.

If you have gotten a down, then chances are you will get another one; don't let it get to you. If you can't help being frustrated/upset, when you have the chance leave & find another lobby.

The situations in which this does bother me.


In KOTH i get a down, i push the ring to take the meat shield and have some cover while i am in the open capping and the guy on my team who has already "helped himself" to many of my downs and by his points is clearly not doing much himself clearly panic shoots as i am reaching for my shield and what do you know the situation in which i was strategically advataged is now probably ending with my death.

I am in a 2v1, and i down a guy, joe shmo kill stealer who you all know i gears 3 who gets 9 kills in a 3 round KOTH match 8 of which were steals runs up and rather then shoot the guy who is still a threat goes for the down... i die, and of course kill stealing smuck dies because he can't handle an enemy not crawling on the ground.

I find respect the down players who i became accustomed too in gears 1 are far better teammates and often say sorry when they swoop a kill even though 9 times out of 10 i was ready to say take it any ways. It sucks when you down someone and wait for the team mates to revive because your using him as bait and it gets took. Its part of gears and part of what i see as a very annoying gears 3 community, don't know if this is because of a younger crowd coming in or just the play it promotes but i used to think gears had a great community in comparrison to other games. Not so much now.

Depends, If I down someone 1v1 and there's noone near by and I'm running up for the execution and some jerk retros him down and starts laughing about it, Yea...I'm gonna take it personal and every one of your kills is mine from now on.

If were all in a group and theres shells and bullets flying everywhere and someone cleans up my kill right after I down them, no biggie...We were in a heated situation and you were trying to clear them out...We lived, I got an assist, all is good.

The only times it bothers me is when right before i'm about to execute someone or if someone damn-near breaks their neck trying to hustle across the opposite side of the map just to get the kill.

yeah taking kills is horrible, i mean if is a mistake thats cool. i can tell if its a mistake or not. but when people keep on doing it thats annoying. i was playing tdm i think two nights ago where literally every kill was stolen from me. i had 4 kills and 12 downs. after that night i just realized im not even going to worry about if people steal my kills or not. cause its always going to happen. im still gonna play by the rules and not steal people kills. i always say to my friends now " they stole my kill, they must need it alot more than i do."

For those saying that a kill can't be stolen, were not taking about a kill removed form your kill count in the match, it's someone intendtionally seeing a down and finishing them off. It does bug me when I'm about to do a execution and some nim-rod shoots from across the map to get themselves a kill.

I hate it.. There some situations that is acceptable like if your goin to die and you pick my down up as a meatshield or if I'm unable to get to my kill

But blatant taking of my down is annoying. And if someone will be a bad team mate to me I will be the same

It's theft, if I broke my back to get someone DBNO and I do it and someone steals it as I TRY execute my down, I just..... start hating Epics decision to keep this type of system. I mean if there was money lying around people will try and steal it, people have no conscience these days. Also them guys saying "its just a game waaah" I really hate them people, its a game but remember someone is sitting at home and playing with dedication, so think about that. In ranked execution I hardly have this kill stealing issue.

It's only a problem for me when the same person is consistently taking kills/downs. But I have my own ways of countering killstealing, BWHAHAHAHA!!!!

The guys I hate are the ones who follow you around (either by staying next to you or with their weapon) and wait for you to down someone just so they can get the easy kill. Which in Horde makes little sense to me because its on Normal mode and there's no achivement or medal for killing (yes I know about point man).

On the other hand my friend's kid comes over and plays on my xbox while we hang out and i've seen him do nothing but kill steal, because he's 6 years old and can barely grasp FPS games yet. So if anyone see's me online doing nothing kill stealing and walking around like i'm high, you'll know why.

Epic refers to it as kill stealing, stealing is very similar to taking. Therefore, I believe it makes sense that a kill can be taken.

After playing competitive Gears for a little while, I don't mind downstealing.

The only time it bothers is when some random guy has a goal to take EVERY down I get. Or when the person taking my downs is the exact opposite of a good teammate.

I'm sorry but it's not for Epic to say what is right or wrong no more then it's mine. But I see how lots of people try to improve their stats at someone else's expense. While some don't care others do, obviously Epic doesn't; but that doesn't mean it doesn't happen or it's O.K. or that there's no such thing.

I take it seriously because say i get 10 kills and 4 deaths but, someone stole 3 kills from me. That whole match i will be thinking to my self. " I could have had 14 kills" It pisses me off man. I can see if every ones shooting at one guy and i end up being the one that downed him but peoples still shooting. See thats fair but, if i downed him and no one was shooting him at all then someone steals the kill now we have a problem.So when people steals my kill i just start taking everyone's kill.

Depends really, most of the time, I don't really care, as long as the enemy team is dying, I don't mind.
the only thing that's a little irritating is the medals, it's hard to earn them when you only get assists, my only issue with kill steals, otherwise, nothing really to gripe about

It's annoying when you're putting in the effort to get a down and you want the execution or better K/D and some guy comes along and goes "oh hurr thars a guy thar!" and steals it. Don't expect any changes though and leading by example won't change anything either. Either keep your integrity or steal kills yourself man.
