Default UDK - Sci-fi Dungeon crawler

    Hello fellows,

i would like to share a video of small project i work on in my spare time. I have had the plans to make some sci-fi pieces for my portfolio, because my folio is
in serious lack of hard surface and sci-fi work. The plans have been to make a corridor or some props but found very talented and young coder willing to learn
Unreal script. So we decided to make a game prototype. After hours spent playing the great game Legend of Grimrock i decided to make a prototype of dungeon crawling
game but sci-fi, instead of all fantasy dungeon crawlers. And there is a short video.
Warning! All textures and models are just simple placeholders, nothing awesome like other works here around, but this will change in the future, i hope ;].

    About:

    Game: Dungeon crawler
    Genre: Sci-fi
    Platform: UDK, PC

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-prQSNt2XQU

We will try to show some future milestones, like the first character placeholder in action (i am environment artist so this will take som etime ;]), UI etc.

    C&C welcome.

    Enjoy

    Regards

    Jonsnovv

p.s. special thanks to Epic for releasing UDK!

A really good start , what type of enemies you implementing in this ? looking very promising so far in my opinion as what you're got currently are just placeholders .

    Keep up the good work

Looks fine (); and what's with the small mouse and one-walk FPS movement is all about?

Do Want! Will it be turnbased, or real time? (Turnbased would be awesome)

ghoststrykr: a new video will be released after next weekend, we are prototyping hard and project is still alive but we are fully employed so the progress is not that fast as we wanted it should be

We are very surprised how many positive comments we have got and how many people have watched the video of completely unannounced project. Now a new content is almost ready, still like a placeholders (UI, enemy character, weapons, items) but i have started to work on the final environment modules. :]

Very inspirational! Can i ask if you hand place the assets or if you have tools to procedurally generate the layout? I ask because the work in progress level editor for Legend of Grimrock looks very nice, i wonder if something similar is possible with udk.

    Thanks guys for the replies.

El_Electron: yes, all assets has been placed by hand.
Grimrock editor will be very handy tool, i really like those people from Almost Human. Their Grimrock forced us to start making this game.

Looks quite good (though at times too dark for my tastes).

    Hello UDK community!

We have received a lot of comments from the community and our fans related to the Combat system in Space Shock. It seems the most of our fans would prefer tactical Turn-based combat so we have created an early prototype of the Turn-based combat showing how it might look like. Please remember this is only a concept of the Turn-based combat, nothing has been balanced (energy costs, damage...) and this is only from 1st person PoV.

What you will find in the video?

When the party is detected by the enemy (robot) the combat mode is turned on. From now all party moves and actions cost energy. You will find in the video several actions the party is able to use in the fight against the enemy like movement, attacking with the weapons, using PSI Powers. You will also see the character counter-attacking during the enemy's turn or one character protecting the other party members with his own body (split party).

We hope you will appreciate our interest in your voices calling for more tactics into the fights in Space Shock. Do not hesitate and leave comments or suggestions on our new forum http://spaceshock-game.com/forum/index.php Feedback will be greatly appreciated.
