Yes, I know what I'm talking about. I've had plenty of freezes on Halo 3, Halo Reach, Call of Duty 4, Modern Warfare 2, and Left 4 Dead (among many others that I can't recall of right now), and when I re-booted those games after a freeze, I only lost player data that I accumulated that particular day or that particular match that I was forced to leave from.
If this isn't just an Epic problem, that why has Microsoft repeatedly stated that this is problem unique to Epic? I contacted Microsoft about this issue, and official Xbox representatives too (1-800-4MY-XBOX and the Microsoft Customer Advocacy Team), don't understand why this is a problem only for Gears.
Epic knows that this particular player data reset issue is unique to Gears 2 and 3. If it happens to other games, then why hasn't it made such publicity for other titles? All games have corruption problems, that I can attest to. However, NO OTHER TITLE has corruption to this degree, and people need to know and accept that.
Gears's programming is different and faulty. You shouldn't lose ALL of your player data when you experience some sort of freeze. That's just impractical, and Epic knows this. That's why they're trying to fix it. I don't hear Bungie, Infinity Ward, BioWare, Valve, Ubisoft, etc. (again, among many others) that are trying to resolve this same issue.
