Every post I see on the topic of letting us chose the sever/p2p we connect to has been removed. I for one dont want to be the only American in a game, because for some reason I get thrown in a Mexico lobby. The lag is unbearable and within 2 minutes I am quitting out the try it again just to get stuck in another Mexico lobby. So why cant you guys put an option in to let the player chose to turn off the areas they can connect to.

I had high hopes for the game but over the last few months I have come to really hate playing it, due to the connection. I would like to be able to understand what my teammates are even saying for one.

Aaah the Mexican complaint. You realise that matchmaking searches for the closest available server to play on right? If the closest servers to you are in Mexico and you have a bad connection, then you will have a worse connection with a server further away in the US.

I have great internet 62 down 21 up and 32 ping from Arizona to New York I think my internet connection will work on another sever.

Your connection suffers as you travel further distances. When you connect to Mexican or South American servers you are suffering. Other servers closer are occupied. What game modes do you play? No point complaining you either have to live with it or leave. But the game always tries to connect you to the closest available server.

Here is what I cant understand I play with my friend which lives in Canada and on his severs in Canada it is great little lag here and there but nothing to bad. But when I search myself the game is trash with Mexico in the game tell me that

The closest server to you is probably in Mexico and the closest to him is in Canada. Also it could be that the closest server for Mexicans is somewhere in South US and it is same one you are connecting to. It may not be in Mexico.

I live in Maryland so why do i keep getting matched with west coast? There is no way that the closest sever to me is in the west.

All of North America shares servers. If I recall correctly Mexico connects to West Coast servers, so we all share the same server space.

I never have lag issues so I can't empathize with you.

I live in the south and last night had people from Mexico Spain Canada and US in the same match.

Like stated Gears connects to you closest available server which acts as host instead of another player. If the closest available is in Mexico then that's where you end up.

I don't get this issue so i can't really help, sorry to hear this.

I play with people in the West Coast and don't experience terrible lag.

And I play on UK servers with friends and don't have more than a 1/4 second of lag. So I really can't help people much because I don't lag.

Latency issues with the server maybe? I know some people with God-like connections who lag because they have a high ping or jitter.

i got the same problem. i have to let my east coast friends host. it sucks. great post

I usually play when noboby is on the computer too but my character still jumps around and rubberbands when i come off of cover. So i guess my internet is just horrible.

I live in southeastern Kentucky and I was told on this very forum a few months ago from an Epic developer that if I am hosting the lobby then I would NEVER, under ANY CIRCUMSTANCES be playing people from Mexico because they share "servers" with the West coast...... I play ranked playlists almost exclusively and on any given day I might see 5/50 recent players from the United States. I checked last night and just as Crush Master said, I had one game with 2 friends where the 7 other players consisted of 2 Canadians, 3 Mexicans, and 2 Spaniards. Seems like the only Americans I play with these days are the ones in our party lobby. As I've said before, for those of you who don't experience these extremely laggy/spongy Mexican connections I'm happy for you but it really is game-breaking for some of us.

Sometimes speedtest's ping measure can lie. I have to borrow my roommate's wireless connection to play, because my "upgraded" wired speed gives me a high jitter. So sometime I play wired and it's fine, but others I'll randomly lag horribly for no real reason.

That's my only real guess.

As explained by Gnashes - jitter can make a god-like connection completely horrible.
You can have 6 ping to a place that's 1000km away - but if you are getting jitter - it might as well be 200ms.

Becaise its already been addressed by epic. The server infrastructure is microsofts. The system inherently connects you to your server cluster within your regions data center. You cannot choose any other servers because you cannot see any other servers, that feature would be pointed. They can't give you this option.

No. This match most likely was p2p. You connect to no servers other than those found within your regions data center, they are assuming that person lived in Mexico. Ppl beyond Mexico speak Spanish. If your paired up w people beyond your region and you aren't in someone's party from said region its p2p.

There are no servers in mexico, the utilize west coast data centers. Mexico does not use servers in the south us either. Canada and Mexico connect to west coast server centers.

This has already been answered, by joe multiple times on this forum, and it has multiple misinformed posts about server locations/function. This won't go well.
