    Default copyright qeustion

    if i use spiderman for a project is it a coypright violation and could i get sued.even if i dont release it or make money off of it?
    in other words if i show off video of a spiderman project could i be in legal trouble?thanks

    It is a "copyright" violation.

    So the asnwer is "you can't use it".

    Machinima alone is ok as proven by countless vids on youtube, but involving it in an actual game is a big no no

    That depends on how lenient Marvel is with fan productions. I think they're reasonably cool with it so long as it's not obscene.

    However fan works are by definition a non-commercial work of passion. Taking any kind of compensation for a project with already dubious copyright circumstances is a fast track to getting noticed and your ass legally handed to you.

    The UDK EULA prohibits the use of other's intellectual property without explicit permission. Unless you have permission from the owner of the IP or copyright, you cannot use it.
