is there anything new we should know about 'the latest' vBulletin version? perhaps proper search?

I kind of think the search works fine if you know how to use it though, search by title etc... I must say I don't like the min about of letters, but as you know you can get around that via searching yahoo/google.

If you want to know the vb changes, you could check their site out, would maybe help people that don't know how to search right. but I 'NEVER' just click search and type something, I always edit the search settings, and usualy search by title

well I usually get good results using the 'search on this forum' feature, but yesterday I searched for a single, concrete and long word (some unrealscript function) and it missed quite a few results that google didn't. and I didn't know the search missed results :/

Pages sometimes still don't reload the thread after you posted.
Color for the login field on top of the page is off at times. It shows you white text for "User Name" and "Password" but once you start typing something in, it becomes nearly as dark as the background.

Well I disagree. Actually the search functionality of VB has been bothering me for years, not just here, in all of the VB forums I've been. I don't know how much search you did in VB, but to get what I mean, go ahead and open this thread:

As you can see the title is "Best Practices - Content Creation". Well it may surprises you but you cannot find this thread anyway using it's title. For instance I used these and no luck:

• Best Practices - Content Creation
• Best Practices Content Creation
• Content Creation
• Best Practices
• Practices
• Creation
• Content

This is just one example, I can easily mention tens of these. It happens most of the times even if you don't find out. Note that even when you think VB gave you the results, in most cases there is some results which it simply just couldn't find.

If it was something hard to do or needed some new techs I wasn't so pissed at them, but actually since VB uses databases for data, all they have to do is to write a proper sql query, something that doesn't exceeds 2 lines of code could do the trick. I mean come on, it looks like a 12 years old boy wrote the search functionality for VB.

It's not rocket science, you don't even have to be a software engineer to do this and there is no need for a search engine or something. I wonder what they updated and improved in all those frequent updates in last few years, if anything worthy.

Just to be clear this doesn't have to do anything with Epic guys or any other company that hosts a VB, this is all the fault of VB staff. For some time I thought it is something that could be changed in admin panel of VB since it is really not a big deal to create, but after I actually worked with VB as an admin, I found out there is nothing there to control this.

Also there is the minimum characters limit, which I don't remember if you could change in admin panel or not, but either way it's something essential for tech related threads at least, as we have lots of acronym here: UDK - UT - AI - IO - UI - PC - iOS ,etc. .

For now (and considering the time this huge problem has been around, I'd say also for a few more years) we have to stick with search engines to have a proper result in VB forums.
