Only getting P2P games when I play solo

I usually play in parties where I'm not the host, so this issue hasn't been one.

However today, no one is online and wanting to play. Search for a game - does the whole checking quality of x of x matches and repeats for a few minutes. Get put into a game where EVERYONE is white numbers and minutes later - host migration.
Try again - same result (just took a couple maps to get migration)
Try again - joined a game that was laggier than Gears of War 1 and left
Try again - joined, was just one player with all bots; killed him twice in a row and guess what I got? Host migration.

This issue really only started the past few weeks.
I run my Xbox in DMZ mode (all ports open).
Any suggestions as to what other settings I should change (considering it was fine for the past 5 months)

Had Access come out - they ensured I wasn't losing quality (they changed cables and got a new splitter installed).
I've reset my router to factory defaults - tried; same result.
Reset my Xbox to factory too - tried; same result.
Reconfigured my router - tried; same result.
Static IP on my Xbox (192.168.0.128) and set it to DMZ mode (no firewall - all ports open) - tried; same result.

This is very strange...I play solo 90% of the time and I rarely play on a Host connection.

It's daily for me.
Every gametype. Tried TDM No DLC and ones that use DLC + FoN Playlists -- all give me this.

I've done everything I can think of. ISP (techs came in), Router (reset to defaults ect), Xbox (reset to factory defaults + cleared system cache).

From looking at the Xbox forums MANY MANY Canadians are having this issue with various ISP's. I'm with Access Cable -- people with Shaw and Telus are having the same exact issues in both Alberta and BC (I'm in SK)

Dedicated Servers are always up. Doesn't mean that a problem on your end can't give you problems.

My issue is 100% resolved if I am in a friends lobby. They start a search - instant connection and it's never P2P.
This issue however is plaguing many Canadians for some reason though. Perhaps the quality test is too strict?

same here, and there much be at least a lobby with canadians in it in TDM. This all started with the Forces of Nature DLC, so it must have something to do with that

Have had the exact same problem in New Zealand since December. Seems to only happen to people here on Telstraclear cable.

Did you buy the season pass or DLC content, because if not when your alone your playing off servers ALL the time.

If you did buy the DLC and not just get the free stuff and boosters you got a problem... If not thank EPIC for the back of the gears box that says play on "fast and fair dedicated servers" and not including the fine print of IF you spend more money on DLC.

Sucks as i was trying to get a couple buddies into gears and now i won't even bother taking it to their houses as HOST on gears 3 is ten times worse then host on gears 1 or 2.

i'm with shaw, and yeah i'm really not sure if i'm gonna bother buying any gears game again, the concept is great, but it's just handled so poorly. i figure if you pay for dedicated servers, you should get them. why is that so hard?

I'm with Access Cable.
My neighbor has the EXACT same issue (I went over to his place and used my console and his) and he's with Sasktel (DSL).
Xbox Support says it has to be a issue with my ISP.

How? You are having the issue with Shaw. I'm having the issue with Access Cable and my neighbor has the issue with Sasktel.
I have ZERO issues to connecting with other games. Start a search, instant game. Gears 3 - sits for 5 minutes and connects me to a VERY laggy game in which gives me the Host Migration message right away.

More than likely. When I go solo - I typically end up getting all white numbers and horrible lag.
Does your search last about 5 minutes and then get a laggy game?

Yeah, the last week it was horrible, but not 5 min at all, like 3 but the lag was there

Yeah so getting same issue as me. 3-5 minutes for a search - then put into a game with massive lag.
I know when I'm on the dedicated servers as I basically get zero lag. Put into the games I'm getting -- I teleport across the map/rubberband.

In my area it's just Access or Sasktel.
Sasktel wants about 2.5x the amount for the same speeds Access is giving me (10dl, 1mb up).

We were on Sasktel and had nothing but issues. Constant disconnects.

You don't pay for them. And buying DLC doesn't equate to paying. The DLC sales couldn't support the servers for one day. Microsoft pays for the.

Do you play Quick match or ranked?

Ever since I stopped finding ranked matches, because of decreasing population (and I am talking 1 hour wait for one match that might be laggy; poor internet), I went over to quick match. It's almost the exact same issue that you are having every time. Lesser scale when I'm playing with a team though :P

This happens to me. If my xbox is the only device on the router I get servers everytime. When its not I get p2p, bot lobbies etc unless I party up. I get 100 down 10 up so I can't see it being a bandwidth issue. From the UK btw ISP virgin media. I've tried just about everything but can't seem to fix it.

I'm having the same issue. I've been attributing my bad connections to the new influx of students moving into my apartment complex though - I'm pretty sure they're eating up all of the bandwidth >

This issue still happens time to time for me still.
How I've discovered to fix it is to actually reset my router back to factory defaults + power cycle after. Works every time.
