    Default Character death?

    Hey there,

    We are working on the last stages of our games development and have decided that we wanted to implement an even cooler death for our character than the one we already have (which is pretty cool already). We would like to make the character appear to disintegrate upon death....think vampire death in the movie Blade....but we are having trouble creating it.

    Any suggestions? We were thinking to create a animated texture over the characters death animation and connect it in the material editor with an alpha transparency, but I wanted to post this question prior to trying that. Thanks in advance!

    Yes, I understand. You're looking to build a perfect ending as in Blade. But I think they should do something more innovative.

    Not understanding your comment here sorry...
    The character death isn't the ending it is just the player character's death sequence. We have a cool way for him to die already but given the nature of how he dies the disintegration fits perfectly. We already found out how to do it also, but thanks for your concern. We will keep the innovation thought in mind for the finale of the game which we will be working on very soon.

    Unreal tournament 3 has that effect already..

    I think the link gun can disintegrate enemies with the secondary file.. If so, the link gun is included with the UDK so have a look around for a shader which does this and use it as your example!
