Default Does anyone else think RAAM's Shadow was better than the retail campaign?

Okay, after playing both retail and RAAM's Shadow campaign a few times, I feel that happy, gritty feeling more in RAAM's Shadow than in the retail game. Here's why I think so:

Story: The story was often engaging the player and not just a point A-point B situation, plus, fewer cheese-ball lines
Atmosphere: The DLC brought back that gritty, hopless feel along with destroyed beauty
Graphics: I don't know about you, but the graphics (escpicially character graphics) were cleaner and superior than the retail
Camera Angle: This sounds really wierd, but even the camera angle was better, in Gears 1 and 2, it has a moving typer camera and shot from the waist up most of the time (which was good) rather than Gears 3 full body picture.

I know it's weird, but trust me, out of all people I respect the Gears campaign, I hate multiplayer. I just feel like EPIC put more in RAAM's Shadow than the retail. What do you think?

    I agree.

Not that you mention it ya, i did have a better time playing RAAM's Shadow then Gears 3. Hmmm i think my reason is that it followed a different squad, i liked how we took a break from the main characters and got to see everything from a new(returning) group of soldiers.

Wholeheartedly disagree. Raams Shadow was boring in my opinion. As for more in Raams Shadow, again, disagree.

I enjoyed RAAMs Shadow quite alot in all honesty, with it only being a DLC though i did feel it was rather short but like i said it was a DLC so is expected.

I found RAAM's Shadow more enjoyable but the Standard Campaign was a good way to finish of Marcus' Story. All in all, RAAM's Shadow < Standard (but just)

RAAM's Shadow had the perfect environment, atmosphere and darkness that was so distinctive in Gears 1. Gears 3 campaign seemed to be you were all over the place, one minute you're here, the next you're here, the story didn't flow smoothly or very well tbh. The environments are too bright and colourful, not suitable for the Gears universe. I still believe that Gears 3 has the worst campaign of the trilogy. Multiplayer is the best of the series though.

RAAM's Shadow. Reason? Minh. I felt like it was Gears 1 again when Minh was there by my side. I wish I could have been him but I was 1'st player.

Raams shadow was better because Joshua Ortega wrote it

I wasn't a big fan of the gameplay as Raam because I felt I was basically playing beast mode and his roadie run was slow as a week in jail but as zeta...........incredible the feel of gears 1 was back and I have always felt gears 2 n 3 have completely lost that gritty, dark, horror feel that they deserved! The only time I felt that was on act 4 hive in gears 2 which for me was one of the best acts out of the 3 games but to lose all the qualitys that made gears 1 made me feel it was a different game I was playing! I love gears 2 I felt it needed more horror but it was brilliant! Gears 3 well I thought it was great and was happy with the ending etc but it was the only game out the 3 where I actually said to myself "what the hell is going on here" there was parts of the story that I really didn't understand like act 3 n 4 when searching for fuel! I felt those acts were not gears of war just crap tbh and the feel of the game was gone, the horror was gone! As for the lambent well I was hoping for a big lambent monster to fight not some infected leviathan that we have fought before! The planet was apparently infected when clearly it looked fine! I felt they could have done more with the lambent and the new Jacinto map is a prime example of how I expected all of sera to look like! The lambent should have been bigger and better, they were nothing compared to the locust and during gears 3 I missed fighting the locust from the start! I felt the lambent concept was wasted and it lacked intensity like the previous games

Raams shadow brought back what we expected of gears and Raam has never been replaced by Epic, he made gears 1

personally i liked the quirky remarks made by the characters in Gow3 retail. it helped with the story, and now that i have gotten done with almost two of the books some of the dialog made more sense. in the books cole train used his humor to keep himself up and not feeling bad because about how bad the world was. and the comment on how marcus concidered dom to be a brother than a friend made way more sense after i finished aspho fields. that is why i liked the main campaign better.

I enjoyed RAAM's Shadow, but still feel the campaign was better.... now if RAAM's shadow was longer and we get that other campaign DLC that has been rumored around the forums and twitter, then my vote may be swayed...

I loved it so much mooooooore. I still like Gears 3's campaign though.

But RAAM's Shadow had almost every locust variant and it really felt as though the city was crumbling and I was fighting to save humanity. I could feel the pressure to do good! The Atmosphere was darker, and I thought the level design and fights were better. Although i didn't enjoy playing as RAAM too much.

You're right.. Thinking about it now.. It was way better. Everything was better IMO. The dialogue, the action, the plot.

Honestly, I wish the Lambent never came into focus. I miss the Locust.

still the play was worth it because it was an awesome campaign that was/is worth the loss of my savefiles
hope that in the future there's gonna be a DLC like this , for example when marcus was in jail

I think RAAMs shadow was bettr too, which is also why I want a DLC like RAAM's shadow but for Skorge. Skorge is way cooler than General RAAM but he diddnt get a DLC and I think he should.

The DLC was simply more enjoyable and came across as far more 'Gearsy' to me, great feel, nice boss fights with some good squad cameraderie. Also, what are these rumours about further campaign DLC?

RAAM's Shadow was better, simply because it didn't have me aimlessly wandering around various Seran landscapes for hours on end during almost half of the campaign.

I liked RAAM`S Shadow better because I just got this feeling when I played and experienced it. Like the world is collapsing and yet my squad is a shining becaon of hope for the people stuck in the city. And also the parts where I got to play RAAM. It felt like I was the ultimate destructor of the COG that dared stood in my way. Unlike Gears3 Campaign where I felt supreme bad*** and yet the world was infected by Imulsion. And Dom dying just made me sad and angry because the game wouldn't be the same without him. I wish EPIC would make another Campaign DLC.
