    Default NavMesh Questions

    Hi Guys,
I recently created a map using the NavMesh navigation system. However when I fire up the map my bots just stand around until I get fairly close to them. Is there a way to extend the range that a bot will use the navigation mesh system? Also, do I have to create my own bot code in Unrealscript to use the navmeshes or is that now built into the UDK?

If you bots are based from UTBot then they wont work as they were coded to use path nodes.

That's probably what's going on. My game is just using the default UDK bots. No special coding on my part for their AI. So what does one need to do to make them work?

That's what I have already done. I know how to do pathnodes. I was trying to learn how to use the newer nav mesh system. From what I can tell, vehicles might have issues with the nav mesh system since you can't specify where roads are on a map. Secondly, how do ladders, elevators and teleporters work under the new system? I've looked around but there doesn't seem to be any really good tutorials on the nav mesh system. One thing that is mentioned is that nav meshes are more efficient than pathnodes. Also I seem to recall that covernodes and coverlinks can be created with the nav mesh system. Bot's using the old pathnode system do not know how to use covernodes even if you add them to your map.

Thanks for the info. I'm afraid my russian is a little too rusty to read that website!
