Why does players worry about K/D?

Hey everyone,

I don't understand why players care so much about their K/D ratio so much? I see on the forums where many people want a team to compete or teammates to play ranked with, but they post where they must have a (x-variable)ratio. It shows how the community isn't willing to come together and try to help the players that aren't as skilled as others. I, personally, don't care about my K/D ratio, let alone my win loss ratio. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy winning, but I feel that gaming is for fun. Understandable that players want to show their competitive side, and show others what type of player they are, but seriously we should accept any type of player for a team because who knows maybe they weren't in the competitive scene until they have been introduced into it. If anyone agrees with this post something about it.

some people use k/d as a guideline to how good a player can be (stupid idea) but someone is only as good as their last game unless you know them and play with them regularly, i no longer care at all for my k/d, i just make sure our team wins not caring about my k/d means i also dont care about killstealing anymore which is such a relief and its really funny when someone purposely steals a kill and starts humping me thinking i care.

K/D, well, stats in general, is the illusion of skill.

I cannot wait until a developer says "Screw stats", and leaves them out of the game. Hopefully more developers after that will follow.

K/d means that you are good at the game 1.O is not bad I'm 3.8 kd on kin of the hill but I play kill on the hill I just like to kill all of them lol

You should be trying to take the hill in KOTH. Too many players camp and try to get kills instead of getting to the point where they will win the game.

On a related note, I hate downing 3 people and some asshole teammate kills them all instantly. I don't care about the kill stealing, but 3 people down but not dead keeps them out of the game, which gives your team a massive advantage.

K/D means very little in gears 3... Give me a team player who goes 1-5 K/D but has 4 revives and calls out where people are and uses team fire and I will show you a win every time..... I love playing against K/D kids.... All they do is get their team killed by not adding support.

People think K/D shows skill,but are just fooling themselfs.

It's just fun to have a high K/D. I don't care about the illusion of skill or anything else. I just like keeping it high.

Some keep track of their K/D, some want to get S3.0, and some stick with just having fun. I don't really care 'bout the first thing.
