I bought GoW for Windows a couple of years ago from Gamestop. I bought it as a digital download and downloaded it through Trymedia. It worked just fine at the time. I haven't played it in a couple of years. I tried to play it the other day and got the error message (with the yellow exclamation point) "Please insert the correct DVD-ROM, click OK, and restart the application." It's an interesting error since I didn't purchase the DVD version. I've read elsewhere in the forums that this might be related to a virtual drive program. I closed out everything (going as far as to even look in processes and services). It still doesn't work. I can't even patch the game since I get the same error message when I try to install the patch. I've tried with and without compatibility mode and running with and not as an administrator. Nothing works. Since Gamestop no longer uses Trymedia, I had to contact them to redownload the .exe file, but have been getting error messages saying the purchase isn't allowed in my location (interesting error, a whole other forum post...), so right now redownloading isn't an option. I am running this off a D drive.

Win7, 12 GB RAM, HD5800 video card.

You shouldn't have to but you could try a no cd patch, thats what I had to do to get my LEGAL copy working..... and then my serial number ran out mproductfail.jpg

That's my last resort. I don't like the idea of a no cd patch, especially when this is a digital download, and therefore no cd, version of the game, legally purchased through Gamestop. I shouldn't have to stoop to using a no cd crack for a game that doesn't work properly. I don't know if the game is old enough that Epic no longer supports it and therefore doesn't care.
