    Default Double XP gametype spotlight

    Gears of War 3 offers many different gametypes, but unfortunately most don't try more than TDM. So here is an idea to make people test some gametypes and maybe they like them and increase the population. Give double XP for only one gametype and one week. Announce it here on the Forums, on Facebook and Twitter and combine it with a explanation what is special about this weeks gametype and some general things to do well in it. What do you think, may that help to increase the population? Would you like events like this or not?

    I think that's a good idea, it's just too bad that most (not all) will leave it when it's over and hardly ever come back. I'd be all for it though, because I rarely play TDM anymore.

    Sounds like a good idea,I play all gametypes anyway(except wingman)But with double xp I might play some...

    That should happen anyway ...

    ...but I say yes to the original idea. Good to make people actually hunt around for their preferred gamemode that they might not have tried. But make sure you tell people ingame

    It's worth thinking about. QMs biggest problems is that that stats say nothing as there are many many Bots. With double XP this problem will be solved, maybe not completly but it will be much better. So 5x on QM and 6x on RM?

    That's not enough of a gap...because with no waiting time and the fact that you earn more points (generally) in Quick, you'll still end up with more XP in an hourly session of Quick Match.

    I mean, I play QM more often than RM...but when I play Ranked (and do reasonably), the combined effects will earn me less XP, which surely defeats the intended objective of giving out a greater multiplier

    Great idea, I also think releasing a special weapon skin for playing a certain amount of games in that week would really push those numbers up.

    As for Quick vs. Ranked: It's not a matter of incentive. People will go where they can join in progress and leave without a penalty.
    While I partially agree with this, I can imagine some (not all) 'casual' gamers saying, 'Oh! Double XP on KoTH. I've never played it before, I might give that a go.'

    They could then love it. I think it's more a way of introducing playlists that people have simply not bothered playing (in CoD, for example, I would class myself a casual CoDer (not any more...screw that series) I never played Domination (no idea why) and then I was in a friend's lobby and played it for a bit, and couldn't play anything else afterwards).

    That's exactly what I meant. Just to give you one example: When the Zeta was Execution without Retro and SoS I saw pretty much people on the forum complaining about SoS and Retro. But when you asked them why they don't play Zeta they either didn't even know what Zeta is or said that they didn't try it yet. And I assume that it's exactly the same with all the other gametypes. The population in Guardian isn't only that high because it's a good playlist, it's that high because it was announced everywhere and you read about it everywhere. There was no one, like in the other gametypes who didn't know what it is or that it will be released.

    They did this in Gears 2 for Wingman during vday
    Extra xp as a incentive.

    I used to just play TDM. Then I started playing mainly Execution and Guardian. Made me fall in love with the game again. The only game types I don't play are Wingman because I never have anyone that wants to play and CTL because it's just way too frustrating. So I think this is a good idea because you don't know what's out there till you try it!

    I would play that playlist more.. Almost have my green wings Few levels away..

    It may give a shot in the arm for that playlist that week but afterwards the numbers will drop again as people migrate back to their preferred game type or the next "gametype spotlight" as you called it. Everyone would just be like nomads jumping playlists week to week.

    I know, that numbers will drop again after this week, but some may stay if they like the gametype or keep it in mind as an alternative for their prefered playlist. That's idea. Don't know whether it would, but it's worth a try.
