Hey, this is just something I found out:
If you have your stats at a level of 1 health stat per 50 attack, that's pretty much the "sweet spot" where you can survive about one hit

the video process doesn't take too long thank god :P

I just record some gameplay, then I transfer it to my computer and commentate on my computer, then I just merge the video file with the .wav file.

Need some advice. Since I have the Gem set, due to their immensely large XP bar I can pretty much afford not to spend any gold buying items from store for levelling. Instead I can simply rely on mastering drop items through fights and when I do run of unmastered drop items I can easily switch back to using the Gem items. Therefore my strategy for every rush and rest NG is to start out using only my Gem items and any drop items in fights, thus allowing me to save up gold until I can afford the "Key (literally 'key') weapons", i.e. IB, Nobel, Widow Shriek & Solar Trans-_X. Then I master the items I received from using those "key weapons" through fights, and finally spend gold buying and gold-mastering store items only near the very end of the NG.

Is this a wise strategy for levelling in NG? I guess one advantage of this strategy is that it saves your gold-earning time and thus help you speed through NG even faster.

Agree with everything you said. I haven't thought of using XP potion for bosses other than Ryth (guess I should start doing that) and that because my NG number is rather low still atm I can still afford to use Light and Heavy weapons in some fights and win those fights (a situation which shouldn't last long once I play NG long enough). But since using Gem items when necessary saves me gold then I can use gold to master Light and Heavy weapons like you do one day when I reach high NG.

In fact I also use my Gem items mastery extent to determine how long a rest NG I'm taking should be.

Btw Taml how fast are you levelling on average per, say, hour of gameplay?

It all depends on whether I've got the Xp gems. I had a good run of very profitable games recently with 2 large Xp gems plus large gold+ gems so I was able to buy the Xp potions often, during that time I'd say I was levelling about 40 levels a day, which is probably between 5 to 10 an hour. In my current NG I have no Xp gems so I've dropped from making over 200k a fight to about 80k a fight, so it's going much slower, only around a couple of levels an hour.

I was using only dual with stats in shield and health only but during this game, I got given a lot of light swords and some heavy so I ended up changing my stats and putting a fair bit in shield, so I can master them through fights for a change. It's given the game a bit more variety, and I can practice my perfect parries and perfect blocks, which adds another element to the game.

Also using dual only means you can only fight Ryth every few new games or you'll lose some of the Xp points on the dual solar trans as it doesn't have enough points to absorb all he gives you. That's why I made the change to shield stats, so I can use the light or heavy solar trans on him, which I have heaps left to master as I haven't used them for ages.

Xp potion on most bosses is a good way to go. I use it for all main bosses Thane, archivist, goliath and the god king, although not Thane version 2 of course . Also I don't think it's worth buying for the bog and moss golem or gargap as they don't give that much Xp.

Indeed. Alternatively you can use the "weapon-swap" trick to use any non-Solar Trans dual weapon to fight Ryth. Btw is the gold cap for re-allocating SP in NG still 1 million gold?

You pretty much hit the blue circle and the inventory button at the same time. I think you can either use the lower inventory button or the top menu button. I've only tried it on the Petrified Noc in the skycage room.

Also, spinning the normal gem wheels helps with getting XP gems....I'm going to add that to the OP

So if I'm right that means you need to re-do NG96 but unfortunately the items which you mastered 97 times already won't be master-able?

Well I hit last RB in the beginning of NG97, i hadn't mastered anything yet. And I cant still master items to ^97, although my RB is 1^96

Now that's weird. If I recall correctly, at the beginning of my NG^6 I accidentally pressed "Last RB" (lol the downside of the "Restart 1st RB of NG for more gold" trick), then I'm back at NG^5 but I could still master my items to the 6th time.

Hey SAB I had that happen a couple of NG's ago (pressing Last rebirth in error) but I ended up liking that NG as i got 2 x 37% gold+ gems from a chest and a titan drop and made a ton of money. You never know what's going to happen...

Nope they aren't...but I find it amazing my attack gems are still there. It's like a reverse of the disappearing gems glitch.

Was wishing that the hex XP and Gold gems would remain still, but this finding is still awesome nonetheless!
