Nice job Dizzy. Even tho we didn't agree on ever point and I voted no. I think a decoy should be a decoy. I applaud you and this thread. You did a great job keeping it on topic and kept the conversation moving forward.

I hope Epic can find a nice middle ground and keep us all happy ( never happen someone always complains ).

Just pleas Epic if changes are made DON"T and I repeat Don't let the decoy anywhere near a smoke grenade. lol

A compromise would be to at least give the Onyx Guard better A.I.. Maybe a simple little change like he resets back to the location from where he was upgraded from at the end of the wave, or he doesn't leave the boundaries of the command post that he was built near. The reason people want to give him a rifle is because a Gnasher is counter productive to the role of a decoy. What good is a decoy if he's just running straight into his death. Wouldn't the decoy stay back, and hold aggro from afar. You're right that a decoy should be a decoy, but an Onyx Guard with a Gnasher is not a decoy.

I'll just keep bumping the thread and keep in view. If we don't get a response by next Friday I'll try asking them again. Hopefully they can at least give us a quick yes, no or not sure response.

There is no incentive to purchase a 10,000$ Onyx Guard when he can die in one wave then being forced to chork over another 10 grand. Putting that much money into Onny should make him a full-fledged member of the team, meaning if he dies in a wave he can respawn when it's over.

I agree that he should RESPAWN next wave, but only if we pay a repair cost. Make it like every other fortification, if it gets destroyed, pay to repair it for next round.

I wish that there was a another upgrade option for the bot that let it use any weapon that you buy for it.

Example:
Gnasher: Free(Bot's starting weapon)
Lancer: $500
Retro: $500
Hammerburst: $500
Boomshot: $1,250
Torque bow: $1,250
and so on . . .

Also instead of the bot running around I think it should stay near you in a 15 or 20 foot radius.

i would say give him beast onyx guard AI,because even in normal beast onyx guard are pain in the ass,even more than COG heroes.Also rifle.Give him rifle and beast onyx guard AI,then he would be useful.

Don't really want to spam and anger them but it just sucks that what I think (don't know for sure) would be such an easy improvement might get ignored for no reason.

I remember playing Horde(private)with my friends and we bought alot of Onyx Guards(on sandbar, with millions of Decoys) and one would follow one of my friends and I would be with the rest.

Of course the onyx guards should also be able to operate Turrets and Silverbacks when no one uses them, Right?

If you like the idea and support the thread then I don't see why not. I also don't want to spam them, but an answer would be appreciated. If you do get a response then please post it here and share the info. I would add it to the OP, whether the response is good or bad.

Well to be fair you have to build him from scratch every time. So when he dies its 500+1000+1500+2000+5000= 10000. It does cost 10000 for him because he cannot be repaired or rebuilt. If anyone plays insane horde, which I and many others do, he is practically useless. Considering it costs 2500 more to get a silverback. The silverback can destroy wave after wave of enemies and can be rebuilt. The decoy right before the Onyx guard has explosives and can blow up many enemies in one shot and in many ways is a better investment.

I know there's a few people here that do not see that the Onyx guard needs a change, but the poll speaks for itself. I'm just hoping for a reply from Quinn or Pete.

I know its unlikely due to GOWJ but im hoping someone out there in epic has it in there hearts to take three seconds out of there day and simply lower the price of decoys and improve Horde forever! No rifles or any of the other good ideas simply a price change would work wonders making this cool feature actually usable and I repeat it will take no effort really easy fix Dont ignore the fans !!!

or if he's killed

But yeah, he should be able to be "revived" if he gets killed

Forget the rifle, give him a boom shot and hammer of dawn. With that he would be just under half as useful as the silverback
