Do you want Padrick in a future Gears game or DLC?
Padrick “Pad” Salton
Character Description:
Pad was known for being one of the greatest snipers in the Pendulum Wars, and for fighting at Anvil Gate. Pad doesn’t believe in destiny, and thinks that those who do are likely to accept all kinds of things as inevitable.
Past and present Padrick.
If you have read the novels and comics you will be familiar with Padrick “Pad” Salton. But heres a short overview for the people who haven’t read:
He defended Anvil Gate with Hoffman, Bai Tak and Sam’s father. He assisted during the raid on Gralia with Hoffman, Baz and Bai Tak. He protected the imulsion pipeline on the Sarfuth-Maranday border from saboteurs with Marcus and Carlos. He was there when the Pendulum Wars finally ended and when the locust war started. He, Marcus, Dom and Tai helped to protected civilians from grubs and suggested that the chain saw that Tai was using be added to the lancer. He deserted the army due to depression caused by the horror he saw during the locust war. He left for Pesang, joining the remaining Pesanga living there, so he could help protect them. Finally years later he arrived at Anvil Gate with a large group of Pesanga’s including Bai Tak's wife and son. He had a heart felt reunion with both Bernie and Hoffman. He went on to live at Anvil Gate with the other, going to other stranded camps to bargain for supplies and make trades. He fights along side Dizzy when their caravan came under attack from hostile stranded and fights with Bernie and Rossi when the grubs show up again.
(Pad and Tai covering Marcus and Dom during a Skirmish in Ghato City.)
Now as most of you know at the end of Coalitions End we find out Pad is alive and well reuniting with Hoffman and Bernie at Anvil Gate. He never showed up in Gears of War 3. He’s been in every novel and has made appearances as one of the main characters in three of the comics. A lot of people were hoping he would make a cameo in Gears of War 3 at Anvil Gate, but sadly that didn’t happen. But he can still be added to a new game or as dlc.
(Hoffman telling Pad and the rest of the squad about the plan to raid Gralia.)

Memorable Quotes:
Carlos: “Don’t worry, you got the grownups on task tonight. Santiago and Fenix.”
Pad: “Yeah, the wankers who don’t need helmets ‘cos they don’t have brains to blow out.”
Carlos: “We love you too, Pad…”
Pad: “I got totally rat-arsed in a bar last night, sir, and one thing led to another,” Pad said at last. “Someone mouthed off about Sergeant Fenix’s father. So I got regimental on him. I’m still Two-Six RTI.”
Pad: "Maybe we can bolt Tai's home improvement kit onto a Lancer. Worked bloody well, I reckon."
Pad: "Holy f*ck. You nearly made me **** myself. You little buggers really don't make any noise, do you?"
Pad: "It's all bodies. I was having a piss by the wall, and when I looked down on the ground I thought it was just burned wood or plastic or something, but it was all bodies. It was people."
Pad: "Hey, I ran into a Four-ELI patrol a couple of months ago. First time I've ever seen that Cole Train guy. Hell, he's big. They've got this mouthy little gob-sh*te corporal called Baird, though. He needs a good kicking."
Pad: "Bugger destiny. Believing in that makes you accept all kind of **** is inevitable."
Pad: "For your situational awareness... we go where we like. We hunt where we like. And there's no COG now. Which means I don't have any f*cking rules of engagement. So go piss off and count yourself lucky you're still alive."
Pad: "I've seen it maybe three, four hundred times. Because I see it, right? I'm the only one who does, not even the guy I hit. Close up. Magnified. That's what my job is about. I pull the trigger, and the guy's gone. One minute he's having a smoke or thinking about home, and the next he doesn't even know he's dead. His brain's liquefied like that. In a fraction of a second, he's got nothing left to feel pain or fear with. Good way to go, Dom. Few of us get that privilege."
"This is f**king mental, Marcus. They must know it's over."
— Pad, after Indies begin attacking them after the UIR surrender was announced
Interesting Facts:
• Salton speaks Commonwealth English.
• The South Islands were Pad's homeland. Other notable characters that were from the South Islands were Tai, Bernie and Baz.
• When he was younger his hair was bright red, now many years later his hair is snow white.
• Padrick Salton's character is based on a New Zealander family that immigrated and settled and integrated into the Maori culture.
• He has served with many people. Here are a few of them: Marcus, Carlos, Dom, Tai, Hoffman, Bait Tak, Samuel Byrne, Dizzy, Bernie and Rossi.
• Pad got into a bar fight with a person who insulted Marcus's dad, and gained a black eye.
• He enjoyed cooking, and added hot South Island spices to all of his food.
• Pad did not believe in destiny, and thought that those who did were likely to accept all kinds of things as inevitable.
• He renamed his bot Baz, in memory of his spotter/friend, and considered it to be another member of the squad.
• After Pad lost his spotter and saw the destruction of the hammer strikes he hardly ever came back to base, living like a feral cat far outside the wire for months at a time, watching and waiting, just a voice on the radio. But thats how he lived his life now, a hybrid of Stranded and Gear.
• Pad met Cole and Baird once when he ran into their Four-ELI patrol.
• Pad is Hoffman's oldest friend, his last buddy from the old days, the only one left from the men who had served with him at Anvil Gate.
• Tai and Pad are both islanders but Pad was from another Islander culture entirely. He thought dead was dead, and that the only hand that guided anyone's destiny was pure f**king chaos.
• Pad took out a Corpser with one shot from his Longshot while on recon with Hoffman.
• When Pad started to live outside the wire his call sign became "Outlier".
• 13 A.E. He was supposed to comeback to base to plan a raid on a reaver factory, but he never showed up. Hoffman was truly saddened when Pad didn't show up, he knew he had probably run into trouble. He was the last of Hoffman's old gang from the 26 RTI.
• He was known for being one of the greatest snipers in the Pendulum Wars, fighting at Anvil Gate and along the Sarfuth-Maranday border.
• 400 plus kills during the Pendulum Wars.
• During the Locust War, he fought in several battles one year after Emergence Day, until he fell into a depression and left for Pesang in 13 A.E., joining the remaining Pesanga living there.
• In Gears of War: Judgment their is a pair of COG Tag's that belonged to a J. Salton. This Salton was stationed in downtown Halvo Bay, and was assigned to help evacuate and protect civilians, but was killed by rockets fired from a Reaver. Interestingly enough he was also an islander hailing from the South Islands just like Padrick. Its possible that they could have been related.

I re read all the novels and comics to try and figure out what his lines could be. I used a lot of what he said in the comics and novels to create his lines. Its like 90% actual quotes vs 10% I had to make up. The problem is trying to create quotes that fit his character and the way he talks (Commonwealth English). I welcome suggestion, and I would recommend reading up on his character before suggesting.
Squad Five-Seven (Commando squad): Hoffman, Pad, Baz, Cho, Sommers and Bai.
Gears of War: Judgment

I would love to see Pad in Judgment, but this will most likely not happen because of this quote from The Slab:
"Hey, I ran into a Four-ELI patrol a couple of months ago. First time I've ever seen that Cole Train guy. Hell, he's big. They've got this mouthy little gob-sh*te corporal called Baird, though. He needs a good kicking."- Pad
Pad met Baird and Cole for the first time after the Battle of Ephyra, so it would break canon if he met then in Judgment.
.....but If they did something like; if Kilo was running through an area then the icon to look at something appears and they see buildings being destroyed and civilians running for there lives and they caught a glimpse of Marcus's squad (Marcus's, Dom, Tai and Pad) helping the civilians escape and fending off the locust. Then it would completely alright, as long as they never interact or that Pad never sees then and they are the only ones that notice him.
Its saddening that he didn't appear in Gears of War: Judgment but its understandable. But we did get a COG Tag of someone named J. Salton, maybe they were related.
Gears of War: Judgment Omega-Two Campaign DLC Idea:
(Marcus, Dom, Tai and Pad during the last few days of the Pendulum Wars)
Marcus, Dom,Tai and Pad where all in a squad together when the Pendulum Wars came to and end. They were also in the same squad a year after E-Day so the likelihood is that they were together during E-day and the events of Judgment in the Omega-Two squad. Their isn't a reason they shouldn't have been in Omega-Two. They could make a campaign oriented dlc revolving around Omega-Two during the events of the Judgment campaign.
Omega-Two Mentions in Judgment:
Seahorse Hill's:
Unknown Gear: "Colonel Loomis. Omega-Two just took out the airport Seeder. Colonel? Can you hear me. sir? Sir?"
Loomis: "Barely, son. What's your status?"
Unknown Gear: "Uh, they've got some big grub out here leading the attack, sir!"
Loomis: "Young man, you're fighting animals. Push them into the sea. Do you understand me?
Unknown Gear: "Sir! I don't think-"
Loomis: "Do you understand me?"
Unknown Gear: "Sir, that thing's got three more Seeders with him! I, I think that's what's disrupting our communications, sir-"
Loomis: "You either hang up and fight or i come out there and shoot you myself!"
Unknown Gear: "Sir, but i-[dying scream]"
Onyx Point:
Loomis: "I repeat, Omega Squad knocked out the big Seeder. Comms back online. All units move out to the Museum of Military Glory. We'll take back this city block by block."
-----------------------------
Marcus: "This is Omega-Two. We're pinned down two blocks from the museum. We need an evac!"
CIC Controller: "We're mobilizing, Sergeant. We can have a Raven to you in an hour."
Marcus: "We don't have an hour!"
-----------------------------
Baird: "Im gonna rescue Omega."
Downtown Halvo Bay:
Baird: "And where was Karn? Well, Omega knocked out his Seeders at the museum. I figured he'd want to deal with that personally."
----------------------------
Baird: "Colonel, what if Karn allowed Omega to knock out that Seeder and wanted to lure your men right to him? These Grubs are actually thinking strategically."
----------------------------
Marcus: "We can't hold them off forever, Control! We need that Evac!
CIC Controller: "We're working on it, Sergeant."
Marcus: "We've got wounded, Control! Why don't you send Loomis's Raven for us?"
CIC Controller: "Colonel Loomis is preparing to lead the assault on the Museum, Sergeant."
Marcus: "Yeah? Tell him, 'Good luck with that!'"
-----------------------------
Marcus: "This is Omega-Two. We're a little roasted but clear."
Omega's in trouble, let us experience that trouble!
Plot (Just an idea):
The campaign could go as Omega-Two(Playable: Marcus, Dom, Tai and Pad) just arrive in Halvo Bay just as its come under locust attack. They get ordered by the CIC controller that we hear in the judgment campaign to go support another squad that is in trouble. Playing through we see the locust completely hammer the city, building's crumbling everywhere just like in Baird's first testimony. After wading through tons of locusts we finally find the squad in need, and a horde suyrvival challenge appears defend the wounded squad members from the invading locust army. After you complete the survival portion, a group of medic Gears come onto the scene and tend to the wounded Gears, at that moment you get a call from Loomis on your com's, he orders you to go take out a Seeder at the air port and just as your about to leave one of the squad members (a new character) you rescue tells you he still can fight and asks to come along and help Omega-Two take out the Seeder, Marcus and Omega reluctantly agree that they might need all the help they can get. Now its off to the airport, there you fight the Seeder and large amounts of locusts. After killing the Seeder a cutscene happens; the (New character) radio's Loomis (as heard in the Judgment campaign) to tell him that Omega was successful in taking out the Seeder, but that Karn was there and is fighting Omega. Just as Loomis and the new character are about to finish their chat it pans to Marcus and its shows Shibboleth and Karn going up to the unsuspecting new character and attacks him. Omega tries to push Karn back, and at that moment Karn decides to leave and goes back to the museum and have his elite soldier and the three Seeders finish Omega off. After taking out Karn's elite soldier and the three Seeders. Then suddenly a "Big Seeder" appears and a boss battle happens. After killing the seeder you go and quickly check on the new character, he's alive but barley, they try to bandage up his wounds as best they can, you have to help him walk, making your way to the Museum trying to carry the injured soldier with you. Then two block's away from the museum you get pinned down by a very large group of locusts and Marcus calls CIC to get an evac for them and the injured new character, he gets told they have to wait an hour and replays that they don't have an hour because the new character is bleeding out. It then turns to another survival challenge trying to defend yourself and the injured Gear from the invading horde. You are given a break period to refortify, Marcus calls again for an evac but gets denied again, he then asks to use Loomis's Raven, but gets denied again. The next batch of waves comes in and you must defend your position. Finally Baird lets loose the Lightmass missile and the blast devastates the horde that is moving to Omega's position. Marcus call's in and says they are all right, as a raven descends to evac them, but the injured Gear is too far gone and he dies while being evacuated and says his dyeing word to Marcus and Omega and give them his Tag's.
Just an idea for the plot i came up with, but if Epic/PCF did do a Omega campaign DLC it would probably be much better then this.

Aftermath Padrick skin idea:
Pad never appears in Gears of War 3, but we know for a fact that he was at Anvil Gate at the time with Hoffman, Bernie and Rossi. So why not have a character skin showing off what he could have looked like in game at the time. With his vibrant red hair turned snow white. If you look at Pads armor on the cover of DLS Part 5 its similar in style of first armor set below. I think either set of armor could be used for a "Aftermath Padrick" skin.
Or they could go with the civilian style look he has in Dirty Little Secrets: Keyhole; brown leather jacket, white shirt, green/black pants.
COG Armor Version 1
COG Armor Version 2
Dirty Little Secrets Part 5: Keyhole
SPOILERS!!!!!!!
Summary:
The comic fetures Hofman, Bernie, Pad and many other characters living and trying to survbive at Anvil Gate. The main events of the comic are that Pad is back and that they need to trade pelts for fuel. So Pad, Dizzy and Rossi set off to go to a neighboring stranded camp to trade their pelts for some fuel. Buat along the way they get stopped by some other rtanded thugs that want payment to use there road, so Pad sneaks up behind them and threates to blow their heads off if they don’t let him pass. They make it to he camp, make the deal and start to make there way back to Anvil Gate when they get attacked by gunfire from unknown assainlents They make it back to Anvil Gate in one piece, but Bernie and Pad decide to go and find out who was shooting at them. Bernie, Pad and Rossi find a stranded a very tiny stranded camp and rough them up alittle Then Mac runs off because the smells polyps, so Pad and Bernie run after him. Turns out it wasn’t polyps but Grubs, a fire fight insues in a near by cave, Pad runs up and chainsaws a grubs right in two. Pad and Bernie finish off the rest of them with a hail of gun fire. After wards they check the cave they didn’t find anymore grubs so they leave. But unbenounced to them there were hundreds of grubs under them tunnelings with shovels, tunneling in the dirrection of Anvil Gate.
(Pad Drinking a beer in the mess hall at Anvil Gate.)
Main Pad Points:
• He has aged a lot since we last saw him in a comic, his bright red hair is now snow white.
• He doesn’t have to follow any rules of engagment because there is no more COG and no more rules.
• Pad likes to drinking beer before a conversation.
• He ends up surviving the comic, so why wasn’t he at Anvil Gate during Gears 3?
(Pad and Bernie fight locust in the Kashkur Hills.)
Honestly I like both Pads young and old, If its in a a prequel game i think the young Pad would make more sense.
(Pad threatening hostile stranded.)
