Bayonet Charge vs Chainsaw

Assuming all else equal about Lancer and Retro, which melee function do you find better? more useful? versatile?

Chainsaw all the way.

Retro needs to have the person in front of them and goes in a straight line, grant it that it does seem to hook around corners or vaccum you sometimes when you're clearly to the side of it. but so does the chainsaw and you have 360 mobility with it and it's got quite the vaccum too. If someone misses their first gnasher shot in gib range and you have a lancer it's too easy to chainsaw them no matter where they are at in relation to you most of the time. That can't be done with Retro. The chainsaw also trumps the retro charge 100% of the time if you catch them.

As is the case all the time in Gears, it's situational. Lancer works good in close range conflicts, Retro is good for catching out-of-position opponents or reloading enemies. Overall though, this one probably goes to the Lancer's chainsaw.

retro charge is for personal assaults, nuff said.
not to mention the two-piece, and versatile of the rifle itself.

IMO Chainsaw is the better option.

Chainsaw will give you a chance at a kill whenever you are caught out. You'll usually die straight after but atleast you get a kill.

Retro Charge. Never gets old, but needs to be premeditated to be successful. At a high level, probably not much good at all. Lots of fun on KOTH though.

I'm enjoying the Zeta Sawed-Off at the moment.

Seems to do a decent amount of damage even if you miss the gib. Melee after a near miss and it's an instant down. Not a guaranteed two piece but it makes the SO serviceable at least. Stops it being the shoot-miss-runaway weapon it has become.

the chainsaw is better, retro charge not only requires your target to be directly in front of you but you must build charge and the character screams like a mad man or woman!

The chainsaw is a lot better,you can spin 360 while holding a button.The retro charge is fun,but I usually only use it after tossing a smoke grenade into a KOTH-ring full of opponents,otherwise the stopping power will get you(or you might miss)

That is a real toughy. I will say a Chainsaw because it has a vacuum that pulls you in. And you got to love here the Chainsaw screams.

Stopping retro chargers on KOTH with a chainsaw is pretty much an immense satisfaction for me, and I just like the Lancer anyway..almost to 6000 kills.
