Infliction's First GoW3 Montage (DUBSTEP + BLINDFIRES!)

Please give me some constructive criticism on editing. This was my first actual edit I've done, and I believe it took me about 10-11 hours to finish this project. I have some nice dubs and triples in it (Longshot, blindfires included), so let me know what you think! Don't expect perfect quality; Dazzle on an old TV. Oh, I used Pinnacle Studio to edit. I recently downloaded After Effects, so I'll be using that for my next project. If I can learn how to use it. :/

Pretty good, cept I'm not a fan of techno. You MUST have the Onyx headshot medal by now.

And I didn't know there was so much no-scoping on Gears.. thought that was mostly a COD thing.

Thank you, Clockwork. Yezzirrr, I'm on my third go-around for it. Haha Roughly 8,050 headshots. Well, for Gears, No-Scoping is more or less the L-Trigger. Blindfiring is the No-Scoping of COD for Gears. It isn't TOO common, but once you get a feel for it, then you can pull it off a lot more easily than the average player! I'm not the best sniper ever or anything, but I definitely do enjoy getting blindfires in this game, especially in succession. Haha

It's good. A few criticisms I have with it are:

Speeding up the gameplay when you get multiple kills in a round: Unless there's a really long pause don't speed it up. At the end on Clocktower, the speed up was fine, but for instance on Anvil, you didn't need to speed up the gameplay.

A little bit over the top: While most of the editing was nice, I found there were too many slow-motion kills, or rewinds. I know it was to match the song in some cases, but in a 4 minute clip, the number of times you used it was too much. Switch it up, keep things fresh and new.

I really liked the part where you showed all your potential headshots. That was very nice, and the pace at which you showed them fully was well done as well. I also enjoy the very beginning, when you showed a ghost-cam view of the gameplay.

All in all, I enjoyed it, and I'll definitely watch more of your stuff.

Spyd3rguy: AWESOME criticism. That's the kind of stuff I love to see there. I feel you on the speeding up thing, I was just trying to keep it in sync. :/

I realized I did a bit too much slow motion, but I guess that's how I felt the song out, and I just wanted a bit of emphasis on the kills. I dunno, I saw that effect done a lot smoother in bigger names' montages, and it looked a lot better. It'll take time to get it all sorted out, I suppose! I'll definitely try to learn more effects and whatnot, though!

Thank you! I figured I'd try the ghost cam intro, took me a while to figure out how to turn the HUD off. Haha Glad you liked how I cycled through the headshots like that.

Awesome, I'm glad you enjoyed it, and I'm definitely working on getting more, better clips for this next one!

Did you get any non semi-auto sniper kills? Those are cool and all, but it's not nearly as... shall I say... labor intensive.

I did. I have normal Longshot kills in that montage. It's probably a 60/40 or 70/30 ratio of semi-auto to normal. Either way, you do have to admit that not too many players on Gears understand exactly how to pull off blindfires. Haha I made sure the clips weren't all standstills or anything because I knew the biggest complaint would be semi-auto clips. If I was a big montager like Advocate, LikeButter, IceMan, etc, then I could understand that. But, since I'm just starting out, you gotta cut me some slack there. Haha

Pretty good. The editing was nice. I'd leave out the single kills next time. They don't really belong in a montage. The video quality wasn't the best either, but I don't know how to fix that. Overall it was enjoyable to watch.

No problem! In reply to your edit, nope, I don't know any of them. I'm just to lazy to change my gamer tag since I realized that there were actual clans named DtA while the clan my friends and I started in Gears 1 was just for kicks.

Deny: Thank you very much. If you saw my TV, then you'd understand the video quality. Then again, the original files look pretty darn good, but I have to convert the files to make them size appropriate. That's when the quality goes horrible. I'll be sure to make it only doubles and triples next time, unless it's a blindfire. I can understand complaints on single hard aims, but in my honest opinion, I believe even single blindfires, as long as every kill isn't standing still, can go in a montage. I appreciate the criticism.

Haha I just settled with what I had because I knew I, at this time, can't get the exposure those guys have. No lie, Buff Ninja went pretty hard in his montage.

Purple: 1) Nice name, seriously. Haha 2) Appreciate it, man. I'm a dubstep fan, and I found it easiest for me to edit to that. I tried editing to a different song, as you can see on my 1:30 long or whatever video, but it didn't flow too well. And, it violated copyright. -_-

WOW That was freakin hot! If I could make a montage if I had a capture card, I would use skrillex but your song choice was perfect for the job. I wish it was HD though.
