I have encountered one other situation like this one. A fellow forumer had also contacted Joe and confirmed he was not banned, yet was still unable to play online. The specific problem was never identified, but restoring his Xbox to factory default resolved the issue.

Mine and my roommates have had this happen once before. After calling it quits for the night and starting up again the next day, things worked fine.

In the situation I am reffering to, the person was unable to play online for days, possibly weeks, and checked numerous times if the problem had corrected itself but it had not. Restoring his Xbox to factory default was his last resort, and it did in fact resolve the issue where nothing else had.

A TU being applied wrong can happen. Did actually happen to me with GoW2 - TU6 actually made it impossible for me to find games; and when I did I'd either freeze or get a error message (can't recall what it was). Found out about the clearing the cache option. Did it, reinstalled the TU and everything worked fine after.
Since settings are stored in a file, they are prone to data corruption.

Hey man this is usually guaranteed to work do the reset unlock method if someone could post the link to it It would be great but other than that I cleared all updates from my xbox reset to factory defaults and reset my router also I re downloaded my profile that worked for me as long ass you don't mind the achievement tickers being reset do that and if that doesn't work the reset unlocks should and all you need for that is a flash drive. The thing with the reset unlocks message is that it resets your multiplayer options and well brightness settings also control settings then everytime you do the requirements for an achievement you have for gears it just shows up in the war journal. Try these methods and you should be back online back to glorious blood and guts good luck bud hope it works

Sometimes your router can automatically get an update and screw up your port forwarding settings without you knowing it. Try this just in case.
