Default Which version of scaleform does UDK make available and can we use AS3

    Hi,

I am new to UDK and am currently trying to determine if I will have everything I need available to create the game I have in mind using this engine.
I am having trouble finding out if I can use AS3 for scaleform though, and if so if there are particular limitations I should be aware of. As many others, I plan on having some minigames available and need to know what they will need to be coded in and also what types of restrictions apply.

    Thank you in advance,

    Terry

Hey Terry. I'm new to scaleform and this AS business but I can tell you that scaleform does support AS3. There are many tutorials that have been stickied and referenced but most, if not all has been done in AS2. From experience, because I'm trying to follow the tutorials in AS3, the syntax is very different and leaves quite a few compile errors if you don't know how to convert properly from AS2 to AS3.

    Hope that helps.

From an actionscript point of view for games not having bitmap and bitmapdata (bar load bitmap) might hinder you, also there's no XML for as3 either.

search for post from Matt Doyle, he works at scaleform and is extremely active on this forum

you can use as2 and as3, the last releases of the engine support both on the scaleform side, but you need to stick with one of them, i mean, if you want to code using as3 your scaleform code must be all in as3.

check this thread it will be very usefull
