Coles flashback to his football days really tugged at the heart strings for me. Especially when he rubs the cougars nose before he gets on the field. Almost teared up for some reason. lol Overwhelming nostalgia.

Singleplayer: Dom's death, 'nuff said.
Multiplayer: My buddy and I playing Wingman on Gears 2, I'm dead, he gets downed. The two Bairds dancing around him get distracted by some Therons so he just crawls away. After taking care of the Therons the Bairds come back and are super confused where'd my buddy go. They decided to follow the blood trail and it led them right to their frag-tagged deaths. >:-)

My favorite moment? Every "scary" moment in Gears of War 1. I never expected such a game to have that. Which is why I was really sad when Gears 2 and 3 heavily lacked these moments. Nothing tops the first encounter of the Beserker, when you were about to go through that door way and the berserker casually walks right in front of you, stop, and turns to go after you, straight up "holy ****" moment right there. You never saw her coming, and there's an eerie music that cues and fades in just as it happens so it kinda gives the "sinking" feeling follow by the "Holy ****". Of course I died because I was frozen in fear. Ha ha. But even when running from her as it bust through a wall or go through door walls was so freaking intense! Tons of close calls.

In "Evolution" I believe. It's been a few months since I've played Gears 1. But it's very dark and gritty, there's a cutscene with dead bodies and blood everywhere. And even before and after that there's tons of "sudden" scary moments that happens when you trigger it, like getting too close to an object, wall, door, and things like glass breaking and wretch sounding movements. Although many times of playing the campaign, it never startled me, but the thought that EPIC tried to scare their audience, I give them so much props for that.

Oh yeah, speaking of door, the very beginning chapter of the game when you kick the door open and there's a dead body hanging. It ALWAYS get me when I don't play the game for a long time.

Because of these things, this is the reason why Campaign wise, I think I prefer Gears of War 1, just because of the scary moments it had that the other games heavily lacked of. And when I play with newcomers, I always made sure that they are in front of me to trigger such events. I actually got one person to scream during the Berserker encounter.

Fav gears 'related' moment ...... seeing the retro, buying the retro and 'equipping' it a local Halloween Fireworks display while wearing my stormtrooper kit. Comments all night from people saying 'Stormtrooper meets Gears ... Awesome !!' (people of all ages as well, from the 'too-young-to-actually-play-but-their-parents-let-them' to the 'doh-i'm-a-50yr-old-doctor-but-i-still-have-to-get-my-gears-fix' lol). Spent a couple of hours afterwards having photos taken with literally 100's of people and all commented on the gun.

Btw .. I didn't bring the bayonet (maybe a little too 'violent' for a public community-oriented event even if it was Halloween, lol)

not entering just needed to say that my mates and I felt and feel the quoted below everytime...

Easy, Dom's death. Not my favorite funny/cool/bad*** scene but it was definitely a AAA showcase of the story telling EPIC is capable of. I don't think I've ever seen a character go out with more style and Mad World echoing solemnly in the background, even when I play in arcade mode, this cinematic never gets skipped.
