It's the one thing the insane bots are perfect at - they spot within milliseconds of spawning. Sometimes I'm not even sure how they saw the enemy yet.

I don't have the capacity like some people (probably you) to get my kill stolen x number of times in a row or in a game. Pretty disrespectful to kill steal, if you ask me. What kind of gaming etiquette is that? And many players in Gears avoid me because I rage quit early when I'm getting my kills stolen x number of times in a row.

There's obviously situations where you spot and don't spot. When you down someone with a rifle or something it is not needed. I'm referring to people across the map who you're probably not gonna down. Or people who are near your teammates and can potentially flank them. Basically spotting all across the map constantly. This is a good thing. There's really no reason for spotting someone you down unless you can't get to them.

This is if you really care about k/d(which most do when playing with randoms). But when your sole purpose is to WIN, whoever can get to the kill faster is the best option.

The only etiquette to spotting is;
1. If you see it spot it.
1a. In the event of a Horde game, and you down the final enemy, let someone else spot it before the kill so they get free money.
2. There is no 2. Only 1. Always 1.

As for spot stealing, I like it when it happens to me. It means my team knows what the go is, and I just find something else to spot so the enemy has nowhere to hide. Assuming we don't need to push the enemy that just got spotted first of course.

Pro tip: when you see an enemy fella, downed and bleeding out.
Spot him rather than take the kill. The spot will earn you 30 points versus the 10 for stealing it.
