I am holding on to my "Nvidia 1GB 9800GT green" and AMD Cpu "Phenom2 X2 555 3.2GHz" for the next year, but plan to upgraid Ram to 12GB and Buy a new Harddrive in the next months!

...But as you can see AMD cpu beat the charts on the price performance!!! you can get a AMD 8core cpu for about "$200 USD" in January 2013! for the "AMD FX-8350 Eight-Core" and about "$150 USD" for the "AMD FX-8120 Eight-Core"!!!

The Intel i5 3570k (if you intend to overclock) or Intel i5 3450 are the best gaming CPUs available right now. Do note that they are both only quad core and I am willing to bet that not only are the consoles NOT going to be 8 CPU core setups, but the two i5 CPUs I just mentioned will perform better than whatever they use. The reason for this is because people aren't ready to spend that kind of money in the U.S. for a console like they were when the 360 and PS3 first launched. Additionally, Sony's in financial trouble so they wont be selling the console at as high of a loss or any loss like they did with the PS3. I don't see Microsoft doing it either. Simply because they learned with the launch 360 that heat can kill a console quickly. Hence the reason why the success rate of the first batch of 360s were so low; it wasn't until they started using low power consuming parts that the 360's success rate rose. Therefore, I don't see them using 8 core CPUs either.

whats keeping the public on the consoles...marketing marketing marketing and the dreamliner competition they create on each other and they are ignoring the PC.
Everytime I walk into Best Buy, the console stuff is highly featured and the PC games are huffed into a small shelf spot. Thats where I go! There is this big dance craze psychotronic console thing and dance to it, it does look wild and sucks you in, but you could throw that on the PC easy, but I don't hit the PC game to go dancing around, especially after a long days work.

BTW the 800 series is out next year 2014! Case you missed it!!!
the 800 series is supose to be 3 times more powerfull then todays cards at the same power consumption, or uses 1/3 power consumtion of todays nvidia cards!

Well, that tweet means that someone from nVidia visited Epic, saw something they were working on and said it was the greatest thing he'd ever seen. I figure it must have been some awesome new never-before-seen quirk in the new engine that plays very nicely together with some nVidia stuff if he's about to say something like that.

I think the next -real- epic game will require a near nextgen system and the 800 series DX12 (probably windows 9)

don't expect any consolized version of it, they can't handle it.

Much of the UT3 mappage was restricted to the Xbox sized mappage, if you wanted a fan-user made map to work in the XBox you had to keep the file size to -this- size.

I am intreged on the fact that next generation games for PC will be less inpressive because of consoles low spec. and that games will be made for consoles low spec. since games are normally made for multi platforme!? :/

...What I think intrestess players is gameplay, in depth imerson games, and not just graphic superiority!!!

you have to make the technology work the game for you, it isnt just massing the screen with pixellated objects till the framerate crawls.
It has to make sense how you use the tech. Thats where you have to get creative/clever and see how you can make the tech do it.

Unreal worked as it seemed to mix a very lowtech society with strange ways with a high tech creature dominating the planet.
