Default UDK configuration file tweak guides

    Hi guys,
Does anyone know of a decent configuration "tweak guide" for UDK? It seemed like there were some for UT3 but I haven't seen one for UDK. Specifically I am looking for ways to improve graphics performance and FPS. Thanks in advance.

Both UT3 and the UDK utilize the same engine: Unreal Engine 3. The UDK does have several huge improvements but any UT3 tweak guide will mostly apply to UDK as well as they're of the same software engine 'generation'.

I was hoping that there was something more up to date with UDK. Many UT3 tweak guides are for specific patch versions of UT3. And some of those settings don't even exist in UDK or have been moved to a different .ini file.

So here's where I am coming from. Today I did a test and compared DM-Deck between UT3 and UDK at 720p resolution. I got 45 FPS in UT3 and maybe 24 FPS in UDK! That's a 53% decrease in performance on an engine that been improved for almost 5 years! So there must be an answer in the .ini files by my way of thinking. I just can't believe that UDK's overhead is causing that significant of a difference.

http://udn.epicgames.com/Three/SystemSettings.html and http://udn.epicgames.com/Three/Comma...Arguments.html might have what you're looking for. You can set system settings in-game using the scale set <setting> console command.

Thanks. I will look into those command options and see if there's anything that I can use to improve FPS

May I broaden the scope of this thread?

I've been trying to change the path for screenshots/movie capture to go onto a separate drive and have had mixed results. I've tried changing UDKEngine.ini from ScreenShotPath=..\..\UDKGame\Screenshots to ScreenShotPath=e:\UDKScreenshots as well as setting enableSteam to false to bypass issues that it may cause. I was able to get this to work on the August 2011 build but it is not working for the December 2011 build. Can any one please help me figure out how to get this path switched please. Thank you.
