Why people swap to the gnasher at spawn.

A lot of people do that because in gears 2 it was so overpowered that everybody change to gnasher when they spawn, i use to do that in gears 3 but now i just keep my hammerburst until i see someone close.

I agree. On initial spawn i'll keep the rifle out. After that it's shotgun because you never know what you'll run into.

Exactly the reason I do it. It's common sense to have a shorter-range weapon out as a safeguard against any unexpected encounters...

Yeah, it just depends on what kind of soldier the person is. Personally, I like shotgun duels, so I pull out the...you guessed it, the shotgun. However, there are a few people who are indifferent about K/D and help their teammates with rifle fire. Nothing wrong with that either.

This is exactly the case for me. but now I do sometimes not take out my gnasher as soon as I spawn.

(I pull the shotgun out first because I don't know what could happen... The rifle which is used for long range can be switched to and most often not having it out to start won't result in death... However.. if you get crssed by a guy with the gnasher, those few moments switching guns could mean life or death....

I see others do it, although it's not my first reaction after spawn. I tend not to rush right in to the action, especially if playing king of the hill. I stand back, and lancer down anyone goin in the circle. Guardian, I won't switch until I'm in the position the leader has chosen to hold up at, that's if he/she decides to do so. I completely understand though, It's a habit I've seen others do since gears 1 and people will never stop, and that's fine by me .

depends on the map if there is a longshot i will switch to smoke throw it go back to rifle then switch it for longshot

Depends what game mode or map I'm playing. I'm used to doing it because I played Gears 1 a lot and I got used to doing it on there. The only game modes I don't swap to the Gnasher are TDM and Guardian. But, like the OP said, it's safer as I could run into someone at anytime when trying to get to where I'm going.

Gears 1 lancer was useless so I always switched to gnasher and I've been doing it ever since

See a lot of people saying how "The gnasher is OP, that's why everyone swaps to it at spawn" and other various things along those lines.

While I can't speak for everyone (obviously..) I think it's safe to say a lot of people, like me, switch because it's safer.
If you're spawning, it means you're going to have to run across the map to get to wherever you're going. At any point in time, someone could run round a corner, or from behind you, and if you've got your rifle out, chances are you will die (unless you have the retro, in which case enjoy your free kill).
If you have the gnasher out, you can defend yourself and potentially win. You've a much higher chance of being forced into CQC when running across the map, so it makes sense to keep your gnasher out.

The first place I go to is usually a CQC area; plat on Checkout, Torque spawn on Hotel, Sniper spawn on Gridlock and Old Town, etc.

Why on Earth would I keep my Lancer out?

Sorry, this is just one of the weakest attempts to squash this 'myth' that I've seen. That also sounded more d***ish than apologetic...It just gets exhausting trying to inject common sense and logic into these things but it needs to happen, lest the idea that charging into a killbox wildly and then blaming the guns that kill you for dying becomes completely acceptable.

And if you die in the middle of a round?

Sure, I can check every corner, but that would take a while, and potentially my team would lose support needed to keep a power weapon. I'm not running blindly, but having the gnasher out is an extra precaution. It makes sense.

I can't count how many wallbouncing tryhards I've gunned down by hard aim while strafing slowly. I wish there were kill cams in this game only for moments like those so you could show your opponent what they looked like through your gun sights.

I wouldn't count those, though. No point bouncing when it's just 1 dude. They're idiots lol.
I save bouncing for escaping, or when there's multiple people. Otherwise strafing is much more effective.

Just to reinforce what i'm trying to say: I've never seen you be positive. And i understand what you're doing, i can tell you now that you would just sound like a d*ck if you didn't have a large vocabulary.
