I've seen many different people doing them, their all over atm! Cher & Zap mostly. If everyone who gave a few codes away had one itd be too easy, like I said before theyd need to be known for being helpful, etc. Guess its the Epic staffs call at the end of the day.

I agre about the codes. If that were to happen, where everyone gets a pat on the back and a banner just for giving away a code, a lot of people would have a banner (including me). To get one, you need to be very kind and generous as well (i.e Thrashballer's Avatar Request Thread) not for giving away a Savage Kantus you don't need. P.S. It's there, not their

110% agree with you on all of these. There are so many great people on these forums. That help out the community in many different ways.

I wasn't recomending, but simply answering someone's question as to why some people have these banners, but they deleted their post and now it looks like I need a roll of paper towels for my nose hahahaha

I would like to see SKILLS more than awarded a badge, for his "godlike" efforts to continue a much valued resource to the entire UT world.
In 2009 he took over the task of being the keeper of the holy archives of all that is Unreal, www.UT-FILES.com.
"If he doesn't have it you don't need it", is something I have said many times.

Because he has stuck to the ethos "if it ain't Unreal, it ain't comin' in" it has not grown out of hand, and there for he has been able to pay for it from his own pocket plus a few meagre donations. Keeping it from becoming an ad-infested site that needs to generate revenue to stay alive.
Unfortunately this epic scale archive is going to close, due to SKILLZ current employment situation (or lack-of).
For a few of us old-timers it has come as a hefty blow, as the loss of all that community (read, made by you) content, rare and hard to find stuff from long dead sites, and more editing resources than you can shake a low-polly stick at !
We are concerned because we have seen it before.

With PlanetUnreal/Quake and FilePlanet many mappers and modders invested all their hard work, only to see it disappear in a puff of digital smoke!
You can still find odd remnants at a few sites pointing to long-gone hosted sites, and if you use the WebArchive.

Game/FileFront will eventually go the same way, and they have already started culling massive chunks of gaming history. Many authors sections no longer exist as they were not submitted via ModDB for example. I can see a day when even ModDB is not safe, as the storage requirements and bandwidth at FileFront spiral ever upwards, and it just becomes a database.

Some work has been done at Beyond Unreal to make it a functional file resource again, but nothing to fix the downloads page. You have to use the Liandri Archives to find any files. it works very well like this actually)

The best way to keep a resource live and stable is to keep it simple, and with no outside interference, keeping only to one game lineage or following the product of only one company. Again killing any need for advertising, as all visitors to the site are there because they know what they want. We don't want or need a "website experience", we want the content for our "Unreal experience" !
To be honest I think every games company should have access to a facility like this. I think it is in our interest (players and developers) and theirs.

Not only is UT-FILES the biggest single repository of Unreal treasure, it is also set up as a server redirect for all the Unreal Tournament games (even Operation Napali). Beat that for value!
To an ageing gamer like me, who plays every version of Unreal Tourney (and edits in 2 of them) UT-FILES is like the library of Alexandria.
It is an educational resource, and a source of much fun, with one thing in mind.
Us, the Unreal gamer clan.

A few threads have started elsewhere in the UT community, where we a collectively crapping our pants.
Please show him some love, (Hell give the man a good job if ya can!) and show your support either by helping with a donation, or a solution. We are after all a community.

Agreed with that post and "positively" charged. Find a solution to make Unreal series bigger.

PS: I'm a new staff at UT-FILES now. And some of few UT members have a badge (including me), some of us will definitely continue the Unreal community once until we die. And oh, I nominate VendorX for the Unreal-scripting helper and pro.
