Default Epic why did you not let us know how good this was

I had my eye on this when it first came out but i was put off by the lack of multiplayer and i never really saw any adverts for it or a demo on xbox live. After some of the poor fps games i wasted 40 on last year (homefront and brink i am looking at you) i did not want to waste any more cash so i didnt bother with it as i didnt see much hype about the game. I forgot about the game tbh as it dropped off the 10 ten in my local game store very quickly so i just asumed it was a bad game how wrong was i.

My local supermarket had the game for a fiver so i though why not and i have been playing it all night and i think this is the most fun i have ever had in a single player fps what a game. who ever come up with the ideas deserves a pay rise. I actually feel bad having only given you £5 for this game i would have been very happy paying full price for this game.

I also think this is a lot better than gears 3 as well

i just dont know why this is not a massive popular game like gears. maybe it was the lack of mp or the lack of adverts showing the game off. i am also dubious when there is mo demo on xbox live especially with new games.
The trouble with fps games are there are so many bad ones out there and cod wannabes you have to be careful what you buy but this game is truly orginal

if i had brought this last year i think this would have been my best game of 2011

well done on making an awsome game... You development team deserve a pat on the back

The game also controls really good as well with it being from ea (not my favoite company) i expected it to have the horrible clunky controls battle field has but it does not

It is almost a crime how cheap this game is ... if i had seen a bit more advertsement i would have brought it i recon but people wernt really talking about it . i have already told a few mates to go to the supermarket and grab a copy

Whens the next one coming out as i dont want to miss it next time ?

Welcome to the Epic Games forum!

It's always nice to see people enjoying this game and being pleasantly surprised.
Actually, the game was considered to be a flop so I don't think you will ever have the chance to miss the release of Bulletstorm 2 (pity as it ended with a cliffhanger, but on the other hand it might be good, imagine the sequel would be pretty bad story- and style-wise compared to the first game). The income could just equal the loss they have made with its production and People Can Fly have hinted a few times that there probably won't be any sequel, pretty sad in my opinion, however, they never directly said that there will never be one, so maybe one day we might see a Buleltstorm 2.
But as I said, they dropped a few hints like saying "There are no plans for a sequel" and stuff like that. Besides, there are rumors People Can Fly are working on a Gears of War prequel trilogy now, it has not been confirmed, but if it's true we probably won't see a Bulletstorm 2 until that's done, given the fact that it was originally a PCF game. And tbh, I think they should also work on a sequel if there will ever be one, they've done a great job on Bulletstorm and I cannot really express how awesome the game is.

Yet, it makes sense that there might be no Bulletstorm 2 as it is not worth to waste more time, effort and money on a sequel of an IP which is considered a flop and overshadowed by those "modern warfare games" (Battlefield, Call of Duty & co.). On the other hand, new and creative games within clishé-flooded genres have never had a good start.

    Only time will tell...

Until then I think that People Can Fly should release a level editor for Bulletstorm and allow us to make free custom content. It was one of the two main reasons many people from the Unreal community did not try this game. No custom content and no competitive Death Match multiplayer - which could be made by the community... that is, if we would get the ok and necessary tools to create that.

Imagine how awesome it would be if you could check out new maps almost every day! Mod/custom content support keeps a game alive for long, the original Unreal from 1998 has still a solid modding community which keeps the game alive, creates new experiences and keeps the game up to date.

I've started a thread a while ago about mod support/custom content for Bulletstorm to keep the game alive, also tried to get in contact with PCF with some Flak-tastic help, didn't get an answer about this yet and the more time passes, the more the doubts I had from the very beginning with this idea are confirmed.

    *sigh*
I would so like to create a coop mode, coop Echo and a few Anarchy maps...

By the way, there are also a few threads called something like Bulletstorm 2 in which members of the forum are pushing PCF and Epic Games to make a sequel, you should check them out.

Hey guys. Thanks for the nice words. Just one thing quickly: "the game was considered to be a flop" is not entirely accurate. Did it perform as well as we hoped it would? No, definitely not. But it did sell well over 1M (I honestly don't have the latest, but when I say "well over" I do mean "very well over" , and that's not bad. However, you're right: that's not good enough to warrant the sequel.

Just wanted to add my 2 cents so it's not all doom and gloom. Anyway, one more time: thanks to all of you who bought (and liked the game!

That is a real pity there is not going to be a follow up.

I really dont understand why this was not a massive title i think the timing of release did not help for some reason crysis 2 , homefront and bring got a lot more hype on the forums i visited but they were all bad games
I have spoken to a few of my gaming mates and they had not heard much about this.
plus here in the uk i did not see any advertisment for this where i saw a lot for the others i mentioned, maybe it was the lack of mp ( for me thats a must for an fps game)

It's great to see PCF's creative director being active in this forum as well! Having a connection with the fanbase/community is always an important thing.
Sadly, the very important people of Epic Games rarely seem to have the time to interact with the community here.

Seems like the sources of my information were wrong, maybe it's because people like to hyperbolize in certain articles.
It's still a sad thing that it's doubtful whether there will be a sequel or not.

No, I must thank you. This game is truly a masterpiece, you guys have created a playable piece of art (even though it's officially not considered art but photos of bums are... oh well, I will never get it..).

I appreciate the time you took to answer some questions which have been bugging the community since a while.

lol, Fartuess, you don't sound like a coldhearted bastard, you just sound demanding... but I do too with my "idea".

And yeah, an answer would be really great, that's troubling me since quite some time already.

This saddens me quite a bit because it actually was a pretty enjoyable game. I wish there had been more adverts about it or even a free demo of the first level or something because I feel it would have been more popular.

I had originally preordered it for the beta code for Gears of War 3 and when it came out, I played it and I really enjoyed it. I liked the different style is offered, the story was actually interesting to me and the characters were fun. I enjoyed the gameplay and the ability to earn a certain amount of points for a different style of kills. And oh the kills, they were so much fun, I loved the multiplayer for the fact that it was a ridiculous killing spree in such ridiculous ways and that was enjoyable to me.

I hope that maybe one day it'll be revisited or maybe a book to continue the end because I hate cliffhangers.

For me, Bulletstorm was above everything else last year. I fully intend to keep playing it to hone skills at somepoint. This time last year I just could not stop playing the game.

I for one would donate, if ever one of those kickstarter things evolved for a sequel to be penned. How could there not be a sequel?!

So much this. Well, maybe except for counting for a sequel, because after seeing the post mortem stuff I learned to perceive Bulletstorm as a whole, even if many people may say something about cheap cliffhanger trickery.

BTW, thx for dropping by Adrian, I know you're a busy man.

(I might something to do with Adrian's appearance on the forums (considering his previous post was made effin' years ago. I just poke him on Twitter and it's up to him to decide if it's worth of attention or not))

I bought Brink over Bulletstorm for the MP, that was HUGE mistake. Brink was complete ****, it makes me angry that I bought it for full retail, then picked Bulletstorm later on sale.

Nice wallpaper, like the motion in it!

    Looking forward to the rest.
Now if we could just create own maps with a Bulletstorm level editor and put such posed models on them to make wallpapers or promo pictures...

bulletscores.com died a while back but I'm thinking of starting another site loaded with videos from myself and others and all things related. Any materials like your wallpapers Goha would all be greatly appreciated. Even to get new folk into the game by holding echo competitions? The Echoes could have been something so much more!

Taking about Echo, yeah, they could have made it coop with a few modi thrown in, like a "race" where it's only about who gets first to the end of the Echo map, or a simple competition of who kills more bots and collects the most skillpoints with his time taken in consideration - both players starting at the same time and stealing each other the kills would be pretty amusing too.
Talking about "coop" Echo, it would add a bunch of new skillshots - and I don't see any problem with the Boneduster's slomo function, nothing different than the leashing, with an option of slowing down literally the whole action including the coop player - why not? If people would agree with this, they surely wouldn't mind about people using the weapon.

And I also wouldn't have seen a problem with the often mentioned competitive multiplayer. A "simple" concept would be a little "Unreal Tournament multiplayer" with CTF, DM and some kind of AS and DOM, maybe even some form of defending your outpost against waves of enemies, similar to Anarchy just that you must try to keep the building intact. I believe this was possible if one would modify the leash to a certain degree and explain it that this multiplayer is a training/selection of worthy Final Echoes who use a prototype of the Echo leash which takes much longer to use again after one usage than in Anarchy on lowest level and does not have a slomo function on other players, just the attraction + ragdoll nor does the grav boot kicking (would just push you as with the minibosses in the campaign, Echo and Anarchy) as they could be just a poor rip off of Doc's boots with some non-working features. Make the arenas for the multiplayer locations in some holodeck of a spaceship, storage halls or arenas specially built for the Final Echo training. The holodeck idea could bring you back to Stygia as it was found of having the perfect landscapes for testing extreme conditions or whatever.
Custom mod and map support, an editor, dedicated servers and this game would bloom, become a brand new experience while still remaining the Bulletstorm we loved since the first moment we saw/played it.
One person once said: "Give us the tools and we'll give you plenty of love packaged in the products we've made with them."
Not sure who it was, but it's exactly what I think.

CTF? It would require some biger changes in game to work. Leash, slide, flail gun would ruin it (flag carier would be to easy or to hard to kill). I think that those features should be strongly tweaked. Additionally CTF mode probably should be a little bit modified. But for gametypes like DM that same elements need updates, so it should be a big deal. I want to add something about sliding. It works as accelerated movement mode (like bynny hoping in Quake) but you can slide only forwards, what makes player just slide-charge to all enemies instead run around them.

About Assault gametype. PvP could be problematic because in BS it's very easy to eliminate enemies. Breaking through half dozen of defenders would be problematic(but it might work if levels would be designed with awareness of that problem in mind). I think that Assault elements should be bring into coop-echoes.

But again. With redesigning many parts you can create whatever you want. Question is if the modified game would be still much like bulletstorm?

And about holodeck. This idea had crossed my mind a couple of days ago, when i was thinking about potential ways of continuing BS with new set of characters and places.
