UK Server Problems

I have actually stopped playing (can't believe I'm saying this) I just feel the more I play the more I'm getting frustrated and these problems are pushing me away from this game. I live in Scotland and the problems I'm having are very irritating. I'm not going to list them because everyone has already mentioned the problems I am also enduring. This is the only game I play and with the previous games they were the only games I ever played too. I bought an Xbox for gears nothing else sure I have other games but for me this franchise is perfect for what I expect from computer games! I have held hope for so long over the 3 games that one day the mp would be perfect and I feel now I just can't take anymore! The most important thing for me is I feel nobody is interested in uk players as I have seen so many people complaining on these forums for years about the major issues for players in the uk and still nothing has been done about it. I honestly don't think there is any servers for this side of Europe and I feel I just can't continue anymore I'll go on for the odd game but it's hard when the rest of my friends have decided they have had enough and they have all stopped playing months ago so I'm sick of being a lone wolf trying to deal with major issues! My brother is a networker for Cisco and he has set up the best connection possible for me in my house so it has nothing to do with my broadband! If judgment is the same as this then I'll have to give up because if 4 games have passed and epic still haven't got this right then I can't be bothered anymore enduring something that can never be fixed!

Sorry epic love the game love the franchise but the connection issues in the uk is horrific!!!!

Uk servers are still terrible due to the range of countries connecting to the. I'll repeat my earlier suggestions as its clear epic and the forumers with thousannds of posts are not taking note.
uk players had these same issues on gears 2 mp, whereby playing people from continental Europe causes massive lag and hit detection problems. It is the bad internet in uk and poor netcoding. The majority of uk players suggested region filters that work by only matching uk players with other players from uk, and players from continent such as the French and German gamers, are region locked to each other .
before we get the not enough players excuse, gears 2 had a much smaller player base and three years after release, I can go and jump into a working game with players from my region. Aside from host advantage, player hosted games which were region locked worked better than servers with people from various world continents thrown in (simple logic to be honest).
and another problem with No region lock, players without dlc can get thrown in with literally anyone in the world. People on servers like me ping to the nearest European server, but players without dlc like I say can literally play anywhere in world. This has been confirmend Many times in many threads and nothing has been conjfirmend or discussed by any of the forum moderators, or game developers.
I also called out a forum user DarkAp89, who posts on Many many thrreads to close them, or discuss issues PROMOTING gears of war, but as of yet has not responded to my questions, regarding the above points on region filters, and specifically, these questions:
why does Italy have its own server, region locked specifically to Italy, but the UK has to share servers with the majority of the other countries in contintent Europe, when they are surely more compatible with italys servers.
I don't mean to offend darkap but I know he had a lot to do with helpinjg and listening the Italian gamers, good guy yes, because they have had their issues fixed. We are left in the dark with the most in consistent gears of war multiplayer in the series.
who are the uk forum representatives? I know Tao devil is American and darkap italy, but it seems like us UK gamers do not have a special member fighting our cause, and I think we are been treated really unfairly.
im happy some people dont share these issues, but I have many uk gears friends and they all support that we Do need strict regional filters putting in asap. Thankyou BUUUUUMMmmmmmmp

The dutch are amazing. Always fun to play with and against imo. They have solid connection and fight like men. Mediocre players on the whole, but a pleasure to play with.

The germans aren't too bad. Connection is iffy, but they tend to be good players for the most part and are fun to play against. They can be really tough in my experience.

I honestly can't comment on the Spanish because I never play against them.

The french tend to have abysmal connection and they always shove retro lancers and shotguns up my arse instead of actually fighting.

This is just my experience though. There are obviously exceptions. These are just the trends I see.

I have to say that my comments are in no way suggesting that all players from the countries mentioned aren't good. I'm sure a lot are but it would be nice to play on a level playing field. I'm not someone who will drop out of a game just because I'm getting beat. Infact I usually stay in a lobby where I've been beaten as I want the chance to redeem myself. I can't/won't stay in games though where people who dont even know I'm there are sponging point blank shots.

Well UK is probably never going to get their own servers since there are already servers in Ireland. The only way I think UK/IE players can have a satisfying gaming experience is if players from countries not so close to UK get their own servers. And it's not just Europeans you've to worry about, you also have Asians in your games especially from the Middle East. But we do have servers in Asia, in India. And many players in Middle East, like myself, agree that we've a better connection to the servers in India than those in Ireland.

So please, support the other thread about Indian servers. EPIC/MS should have players in Middle East connect to servers in India. This is one way you can get what you want. At the very least, it's a start.

Like I said mate on gears 2 , 99 percent of time I only played uk players in social annex, because of the much tighter region filters they instated on uk players. With a smaller player base. In gears 3 , 99 percent of the time we are playing lobbies with a mixture of countries from uk, Europe, east europe, and according to posters above, the far east/Asian players who dont get put on Indian servers. This is obsurd, especially since Italy have a server that is locked only to Italy. Either the uk players need the filter back on, or the other players need distributing more fairly around existing servers. As it stands matchmaking is prety broken.
you can have a solid smooth game, and then one player can join from a country really far away, and everyone in the game before starts teleporting and lagging. This happens all the time. Its like the server can't cope with the distances. There are fixes to this but epic employees, and the community members who are supposed to Help the forum community, have still not commented on this issue, or even said tthey know about the issues. Its easier to blame it on our own personal home set ups. I have friends with 100mb connections with the exact same issues . I work in tech and I set up my wired connection with manual IPs, dmz, open ports and the fastest DNS. My own connection is very stable on other games and even for things such as music streamiing live. I know its not my set up. Lag spikes and inconsistent servers are the result of too much distance and incompatible networking from continents literally a world apart...

Me and a few lads from uk play koth most evenings . If we can get enough uk ppl to join up we could fill a ranked lobby or do a private. If anyone wants to get involved we cud get some all uk games going in ranked koth or private later tonite. Jus msg 'Wake up ne0' on Xbl we'll try and sort it later.

I had the same problem. Started a Guardian match that was a bot game. A full team joined and they were french. Ever friend of mine had problems killing them. I ran up to somebody and shot them in the back point blank and it did nothing at all. One player kept killing me with one shot from the gnasher from maybe 5 metres away each time!

We left after the match finished and played TDM instead in the hope of getting uk players. Some people joined and a few were from the uk but a couple were from Russia! Plus we had other people joining from the USA,Sweden and Germany.

So I actually think the problem isn't the servers. It's the match making and region filters(or lack of them).

Yeah this is getting worse, not as bad as the US clan that i connected to the other night though. I pray the matchmaking and online game speed is improved even if it means having slightly crapper visuals and less voices/executions, i just want a smooth and fair online experience.

I think gears is more complex with more issues, it has the whole cover, and movement system which is much more advanced and the whole cshd lag issues. Until epic actually admit European matchmaking is fudged I think private works much better, minimal sponging, ungagged characers, no French people and no one boosting for starters. Last nite we had loads of good games. Get involved!

Battlefield has more mechanics involved and a lot more to keep track of, Gears is more limited movement wise, heck evading is pretty much broken. You can play against anybody and not know where they're from, part from the French, always camping.

i hardly get to play with UK players with whom I use to play often. All I get now is Germans, French, Swee and Italians. I own all dlcs and my internet is up 30mb.

The connection was particularly bad this weekend. Loads of lag for me and my team mates and host migration at least 10 times on Saturday night. We were collectively kicked back the the lobby on a few occasions at the end of games.

Our last game was 1 random against 5 of us and he was untouchable. He ended the match with a 5-0 win, about 28 kills and only 1 death. The cheeky cretin even had the gall to message us to say we were terrible players when anyone could see he was lagging around the map.

I love the "dedicated" servers. If it carries on much more I won't be shelling out for Judgment.
