    Map - Capture the Flag (PC/PS3) CTF - MarketDistrict BETA 1

    Name: CTF-MarketDistrict
    Version: BETA 1.0
    Compatibility: UT3 is required, nothing else.

    Description:
    A WAR to CTF conversion of an awesome map, expanding it's awesomeness to new gametypes, with changed layout!

    Comments:
    After a long period of inactivity, I decided I just had to finish the map, and here it is, the first BETA!
    This is not just a simple conversion of WAR to CTF, but it features a lot more:
    Added routes from base to base, new elements, changed layouts and building structures!

    I tried my best to get the botpathing working properly, and I'm aware of the bug that some bots get stuck on the tunnel stairs. I have to fix that (I think I know how)...

    All feedback is welcome!

    Installation:
    Extract files to:
    My Documents\My Games\Unreal Tournament 3\UTGame\Published\CookedPC\CustomMaps

    Cool

    This map looks fantastic indeed (according to the screenshots) but botpathing seems little exploitable. Downloading, exploring and making feedback if possible.

    Wait a minute.........I have this map with a UT3 file dated 1-21-2010 (4:16 PM). What gives?

    [Apoc]Cerberus already has done a CTF conversion. As it seems to be already established for acouple years, you should rename your version to differentiate.

    Ah I see. I thought you might mention that. That version is a 1:1 conversion unfortunatly.
    But I understand some of you might want to have both, so in the next BETA I'll rename it.
    Do you perhaps have good ideas for names? They do need to have Market or District in them

    How about CTF-AnotherMarketDistrict? Or, since it's an expanded version maybe CTF-MarketDistrict-LE or CTF-MarketDistrict-SE? Or even EE for expanded edition..........

    Um, I guess I'll have to try this one and the other version back-to-back......hopefully, mid-week; but don't let that stop you from releasing the next beta or even RC1.

    Like your conversion, the new routes add some variation on running the flag.
    Botpathing could have been slightly adjusted.

    Also, (in my opinion) this map is way too big to become a proper CTF map.
    A good CTF match/pug is 4v4. You get lost in this map too easily.

    WAR should stay Warfare and CTF should stay CTF

    Other then that, good job on the conversion.
    I like the differences in the conversion seeing the former version.

    But I need to shut up since I'm already working 1y on 4maps and haven't even finished one XD

    First of all, thanks for the feedback, I appreciate it!
    How would you like to see the botpathing adjusted? I tried to get it as balanced as possible where bots would take both the new routes as the main route.
    I'm also thinking of closing down the center area, so people are forced go take the alternate routes.
    What would you (or anyone else) think about this?

    It's good to hear this from someone else. I was doubting it might be a bit too big, but now I know for sure.
    I'll trim down the base area and perhaps the center area, let me know what you think of these ideas.

    Thanks I tried to really bring something new to this map.
    Unfortunatly it was hard to get the bots to take the alternate routes, and that is the reason I'm thinking of redoing the center area.

    I still have to finish this map, do you guys have suggestions on how to balance out the size of the map, for example by modifying the center area?

    Hi coreper

    I tested your map, it has a nice twist to be a ctf map, the red and blue bases next to flag is a bit open gives more advantages to enemy that pursuit the stolen flag due to less coverages objects, maybe you could put some tree in middle entrance flag or reduce 10 % the center and bases entrances ...overall, good z-axis interesting treatment you gave this remake

    I see what you mean about the empty area around the base, you mean I should decrease that, right?
    As for this:

    what exactly do you mean by that?
    do you want me to place a tree in the middle of the entrance to the flag, or in the middle of the map itself?

    Oh thanks, that is a good suggestion indeed!
    It was one of the bad things about this map, getting out of the base was really hard.

    Now ill just have to look at the center area for some improvements.

    So... not good. I don't have the time to work on it anymore, so if anyone feels like doing something with it, feel free to do so. I will see if I can change the name and re-upload it, so some people can still enjoy it, for what its worth.
