Default Headsets: lowest price - highest performance

    Hello guys,

I am currenly looking here in the U.S for a new headset, I searched on Amazon and Gamestop.
But I have no idea what to buy and what has the best price/ quality ratio, we do not have all these Tritton, TB, Astro's in Europe ( Netherlands ).
So I want to take a profit and buy a good pair here in the U.S.
My budget is around $50- $80, if you know something lower than $50 or higher than $80 ( but not like very professional ) please feel free to advise me, I would really appreciate it.
Can you use most of those headsets for PC gaming also?

    Thanks in advance!

in my experience, the nicer headsets for game systems tend to sound very bad for music (i have the triton ax pro) so it depends on what you're looking for. however, the 5.1 or 7.1 dolby digital setups give you an awesome advantage in online multiplayer games. you can hear footsteps and decipher directional threats, etc... $50 to $100 will get you a good stereo headset (turtle beach X12 +). if you want 5.1 or 7.1 decoding, you'll need around $125+ (triton ax pro, turtle beach x41, etc)

yeah, that's why i like my X41s, they're the only headset for gaming with a bass boost that works good for music+^_^+

I got a pair of "Used - Like New" x41's back in October last year from Amazon Warehouse Deals for $100. They work great but for whatever reason, the people i play with are hearing an echo. Seems to be a known issue. I was told that it was my talk-back cable so I bought a new one but it didn't fix my problem.
“You ever going to take that thing off?” Carlos asked. “I swear I saw you shower in it the
    other day.”
Marcus smoothed his hands over his do-rag, almost defensive. “When the war’s over.”

I got a pair of Turtle Beach X12s for Christmas. So far, they've delivered high-quality audio and they seem very durable. They've got an extra long cable, and they're PC-compatible.

On Amazon it's only $50, which is within your price range. Although, I'm not sure if it's just me or if this is a widespread issue, but the microphone on it is of really poor quality. When it's plugged in and un-muted, this horrible droning noise is constantly played through the mic (you can't hear it, but others certainly will). This has been such an issue for me that whenever I'm playing with other people that I want to talk to I have to revert back to listening through my TV and using an Xbox wireless microphone.

If you don't intend to talk to people whilst using it, X12s are a great option; high quality audio for a low price and PC-compatibility.

I dont have alot of money, so the only headset I could afford was the Turtle Beach EarForce XC1. Got it for, if i remember right, $15 at Wal-Mart. Not exactly the best I could've got, but with my small budget, its very good for the price.

I have the turtlebeach px5's. They're 7.1 surround wireless and work on both ps3 and xbox360. They retail for $250 but you cam find them cheaper. The xbox cable can be swapped out with bluetooth puck to make it completely wireless for it as well. Great investment.

    Turtlebeach Earforce X12's.

They retail for about £50 to £60 and sound fantastic. Best thing I ever invested in for my gaming needs.

With headsets, you get what you pay for. Like most others are saying, the TB X12's are probably the best option for your price range, but I would recommend saving a little longer to get something with surround sound (TB X41, Tritton AX 720, etc)

I had the same problem with my X41's. Apparentyl, if you have a wireless device (Router, telephone) nearby it can cause interference resulting in an Echo. I finally had to turn of the wireless capabilities on my router and use a Ethernet cable.

    Hi guys,

Thank you very much for sharing your opinions with me, everything is more clear to me now.
So I made a litte list with headsets, which is the best? ( quality/ price )
    Earforce X12 TB:http://www.amazon.com/Force-Gaming-H...7610631&sr=8-1
    Xbox 360 Tritton AX120 Headset: http://www.gamestop.com/xbox-360/acc...-headset/90324
Ear Force Z2 Gaming Headset: http://www.gamestop.com/accessories/...-headset/84553
Gears of War 3 Performance Stereo Gaming Headset for Xbox 360: http://www.gamestop.com/xbox-360/acc...xclusive/92675

I think for me the last one is a bit expensive, but because it has a Gears 3 looking I put it in.
Tell me what you guys think, I would really appreciate it!

I have some that are awsome, I think the newer ones have a wireless chat feature for the xbox though so no chat cable from controller to PX5 but they are still awsome, they have bluetooth so you can answer your phone with them, but as far as sound quality etc they are the same as the X41, the PX5 is better though if you have a PS3 as they can be used wirelessly for chat.

That only happens when you are using the X12s powered via USB with your Xbox and a another wired accesory like the quick charge cable or a wired pad.

If you play with a wireless pad or plug the x12's USB power into an AC to USB power adapter, you don't get that sound.

    I love my x12's !!

That's not my problem. I've moved my router to another room entirely. Before the move my headset would click/pop/crack (whatever you want to call it) and they also do it when the batteries is low. My issue with the echo just started out of nowhere. Really would like a fix but TB support will have nothing to do with me.
