    Question Skeletal Mesh plays at 24 FPS, not 30FPS

    I just created an animated mesh in Autodesk Maya and was able to import it into UDK. However I've noticed it was much slower in UDK than Maya.

    I animated the mesh at 30fps in Maya using a total of 240 frames. This means the animation lasts 8 seconds.

    When imported to UDK, it cuts it down to 24fps. I know this because the animSet shows the length of the animation to be 10 seconds (240 frames divided by 24fps equals 10 seconds).

    I had assumed UDK would run skeletal mesh animations at 30fps, does it not? Is there a way to change it to 30fps?

    I believe you need to define that in Maya. In Preferences - Settings. You will have to readjust your keyframes after you change the timing then export again.

    Thought I'd bring this back to life seeing as how I never entirely figured it out.

    Again I animated something in Maya at 30 FPS at 90 Frames long. This means that the animation is 3 seconds long (which it is).
    When I import this into UDK the AnimSet tells me it's 4 seconds long, and the animation is visibly slow in UDK.

    Should I not be animating at 30 FPS in Maya? What FPS should I be animating at?

    I still haven't found any info on how to fix this through all of my Google searches and came up with the idea that maybe the AnimSet just needs to be sped up.

    Unfortunately I don't know how to properly do that, and was wondering if someone could help me out with this.

    if the animation is on a pawn then you could put

    customtimedilation=0.8

    or whatever number,in the default properties.but that would change all anim speeds.have you tried compressing the anim in the animset editor?dont know if that would help.

    He's right, I have this problem too. but what if he wants to use the animation for matinee? He'd probably have to change the playrate, which I think is a pain in the ass.
