KOTC/Gearscon LAN - February 4th (Community Builder Event - New Jersey)

Hey guys:

We are having another LAN event that is designed to bring in new GOW players as well toning the skills for vets.

i've seen the site and thats cool sadly i not near jersey to go also i never been 2 a game tourament can any one tell me whats it like

We are a long running LOCAL LAN. A place to get experience and preparation for MLG type events. We have a strong local base, a great place to get started in the competative scene.

I thought it was single elim community builder event? I canceled plans to drive 9 hours to go when I heard that with friends and canceled the time I took of work. Was going for fun mainly but didn't want to play single elim.

I wanna come to such an event so badly. I am a Dutch student who lives in Miami, FL now.
And I have absolutely no idea how I need to come to NJ ;P, and I don't have a controller.

There are local tournaments in Miami, I don't of any right now, but when I come across one I'll be sure to post about it around here.

A lot of competitive players from florida go to this move theatre/gaming place called Flippers, go to the "flippers360" tab, just keep being on the lookout for a Gears tournament, and goodluck if you ever attend one! http://flipperscinema.com/

Thank you for sharing this information KOTCRODLANE. I have members of my team in PA/NJ/NY area. We're currently looking into the possibility of attending this event. Are there any registration fees? If so what are they? Thanks.

Its on the website:
there is a $10 venue fee
$10 to do the wingman tournament (single elimination) up to $250 payout
$30 to do the 4v4 Gears tournament (Double elimination) up to $1,200 payout

Im not sure, as I live in New York.. I think you can go there with friends and play on LAN, but as I said just be on the lookout for LAN tournaments they hold there because they just recently had a Gow3 2v2 LAN about a month ago.

Yep, you have to wait until they make an event.. could be months until another tournament. You can always call them and see if they'll allow you to set one up yourself, then spread word. But anyway, I'll stop talking about that place now since I don't even live in the area... it all about KOTC in NJ for locals.

thanks dude, MAYBE I book a flight to NJ. I don't know what like normal prices are for like domestic flights. I asked a friend of mine here in Miami and he said like you have to fly with low budget airlines. Do you know which airlines or a price?

With Hype being so close to this date, it's very unlikely I'll be able to attend.. because I'm poor. Also, my team isn't really localized anymore, they're kind of spread out. Rod, a few questions - who is running the event for February, and did they figure out some of the key problems with 4v4s, mainly - the event not ending on time, and [hopefully] a way to keep winner's bracket full screen for the duration of the event.

Would love to see the 4v4 problems go away. I'd consider taking the 9 hour drive down to most of them if that was the case.

If I had a car I would do it, I am 18 but in the Netherlands you can only have a drivers license when your 18+.
Otherwise I would have drived 21 hours. xD

I am sure the 4v4 won't be an issue this time around.. assuming whoever is running the event to be STRICT on start times (starting the tournament at exactly 11am, be clear that the starting time is EXACTLY 11am on the website) and pushing teams off of "warming up". Really the reason the 4v4's have been running so late is because they haven't been starting until like 4pm.
